Jeffrén Isaac Suárez Bermúdez (born on January 20, 1988), known simply as Jeffrén, is a former footballer. He played as a forward or a winger.

Jeffrén started his football journey with Barcelona. He later played for Sporting CP in Portugal. Besides Spain, he also played professionally in Belgium, Switzerland, Cyprus, Croatia, the United Arab Emirates, and Thailand. He played 30 games for Spain's youth teams. He won the European Championships with the under-19 and under-21 teams. In 2015, he played his first senior game for the Venezuela national team.

Early Life and Young Talent

Jeffrén was born in Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela. When he was just one year old, his family moved to the Spanish island of Tenerife.

FC Barcelona talent scouts noticed his skills. In 2004, they signed him for their youth teams from CD Tenerife. His first coach there was Guillermo Hoyos. Hoyos often played Jeffrén as a midfielder.

Jeffrén played three full seasons with FC Barcelona B. He helped them get promoted back to their league in the 2007–08 season. On November 8, 2006, at 18, he played his first game for the main team. This was a Copa del Rey match against CF Badalona. He came on as a substitute in a 4–0 win.

The first-team manager, Pep Guardiola, was impressed by Jeffrén. He invited Jeffrén to play in the 2008–09 pre-season games. Jeffrén played in all seven matches and scored two goals. On May 17, 2009, he played his first La Liga game. Barcelona had already won the league that year.

On December 19, 2009, Jeffrén played in the FIFA Club World Cup final. Barcelona won this important trophy. On February 10, 2010, Barcelona announced Jeffrén had signed a new contract. This kept him at the Camp Nou until June 30, 2012.

On April 3, 2010, Jeffrén scored his first goal in the top division. It was in a 4–1 home win against Athletic Bilbao. He scored another goal on April 24 in a 3–1 win against Xerez CD. He played in 18 official games that season. In the 2010–11 season, Jeffrén played less for Barcelona. However, on November 29, 2010, he scored the final goal in a huge 5–0 win against Real Madrid in El Clásico.

Moving to Sporting CP

On August 4, 2011, Sporting CP in Portugal signed Jeffrén. He signed a five-year contract. He played his first game for Sporting on August 13, 2011. It was a 1–1 home draw against S.C. Olhanense.

Jeffrén had many physical problems during his first season. He spent most of it on the sidelines. He returned to play on March 11, 2012. He scored two goals in just 12 minutes in a 5–0 win against Vitória de Guimarães. In his second year, he played only 13 league games.

Back in Spain: Real Valladolid

On February 1, 2014, Jeffrén returned to Spain. He joined Real Valladolid for two and a half years. He played his first game on February 9 against Elche CF. He came on at half-time. He helped his team score a goal, but then got injured.

Jeffrén scored his first goal for Valladolid on November 2, 2014. He came off the bench to score the winning goal in a 2–1 win against Girona FC. This win put his team at the top of the second division. He scored three goals in 35 games that season. On August 29, 2015, Jeffrén left Valladolid.

Adventures in Belgium and Beyond

On the same day he left Valladolid, Jeffrén signed with K.A.S. Eupen in Belgium. He made his debut on September 13. He scored his first goal for Eupen thirteen days later. He scored twice on October 3, 2015, in a big 5–1 win. He scored three goals in 17 matches that season. His team finished third and was promoted to the top league.

Jeffrén later signed with Grasshopper Club Zürich in Switzerland in July 2017. In January 2019, he moved to AEK Larnaca FC in Cyprus. A year later, he joined NK Slaven Belupo in Croatia. After a short time with Al Dhaid SC in the United Arab Emirates, Jeffrén signed with Lamphun Warriors F.C. in Thailand in June 2021.

Jeffrén was part of the Spain under-19 team that won the 2006 UEFA European Championship. He played eight matches and scored three goals in that tournament.

In 2011, he was chosen for the European Championships in Denmark. He played in three games. He scored a goal in the semi-final against Belarus. Spain won their third trophy in this age group.

Representing Venezuela

After playing for Spain's youth teams, Jeffrén decided he wanted to play for Venezuela's senior team. On March 19, 2015, he got the necessary paperwork. He was called up for the first time on August 18. He played his first game for Venezuela on September 8. He played 31 minutes in a 1–1 friendly game against Panama.
