Jeremy Cash (born December 9, 1992) is a former American football player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). Jeremy played college football for the Duke Blue Devils. He was signed by the Carolina Panthers in 2016.

Early Life and High School Football
Jeremy Cash grew up in Miami, Florida. He went to Plantation High School in Broward County. Jeremy was a talented athlete in many sports.
High School Football Success
As a sophomore, Jeremy made 82 tackles. He also had nine sacks and one interception. In his junior year, he continued to shine. He recorded 96 tackles, 7 sacks, and 5 forced fumbles. A knee injury caused him to miss some games in his senior year.
Other Sports and College Choices
Besides football, Jeremy also played basketball. He was also on the track and field team. He ran fast times in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Experts rated Jeremy as a top safety recruit. He decided to play college football at Ohio State University. He chose Ohio State because he felt comfortable with the coach at the time. Jeremy also had offers from many other big schools.
College Football Career
Jeremy Cash started his college football journey at Ohio State University. He played in five games during his first year. After one year, he decided to transfer to Duke University.
Playing for the Duke Blue Devils
Jeremy had to sit out the 2012 season. This was due to NCAA transfer rules. But in 2013, he became a starter for Duke. He played in all 13 games. That year, he made an amazing 121 tackles. He also had three interceptions.
He continued to play well in 2014. He started all 13 games again. Jeremy recorded 111 tackles and 5.5 sacks. After this season, he thought about joining the NFL. However, he chose to return to Duke for his senior year.
Senior Year Achievements
His senior year in 2015 was outstanding. Jeremy had 100 tackles and 18 tackles for loss. He also forced three fumbles. He earned national defensive player of the week honors. This was after a great game against Georgia Tech.
On December 2, Jeremy was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year. This was a huge honor for him. He was the first Duke player to win this award since 1993. He also received other important awards. These included being named a Consensus All-American. This means he was recognized as one of the best college football players in the country. Jeremy had wrist surgery in December 2015. This meant he missed Duke's Pinstripe Bowl game.
Professional Football Career
After college, many people thought Jeremy Cash would be drafted. He was invited to the NFL Combine. However, he could not do all the drills. This was because of a hamstring and wrist injury. He did perform well at Duke's Pro Day. Scouts from many NFL teams came to watch him.
Joining the Carolina Panthers
Jeremy was not chosen in the 2016 NFL draft. But many teams wanted to sign him as a free agent. He decided to join the Carolina Panthers on May 2, 2016. The Panthers wanted him to play a special linebacker role. This role combines skills from both linebackers and safeties. Jeremy gained weight to prepare for this new position. He played well on special teams during his time with the Panthers.
In September 2017, Jeremy was placed on injured reserve. This was due to a calf injury. He was released by the Panthers in October 2017.
Moving to Other NFL Teams
After leaving the Panthers, Jeremy joined the New York Jets' practice squad. He was with them for about a month. Then, he signed with the New York Giants in November 2017. He was waived by the Giants in December.
The Cleveland Browns then claimed him. This means they picked him up from waivers. He was released by the Browns in March 2018. The very next day, the Arizona Cardinals claimed him. Unfortunately, Jeremy suffered a torn ACL and MCL during the preseason. These are serious knee injuries. He was placed on injured reserve by the Cardinals.
