Jeremy John Wade (born March 23, 1956) is a British TV presenter, author, and biologist. He is famous for his TV shows like River Monsters. Jeremy is known as one of the best anglers ever. He has traveled all over the world. He has caught many different kinds of fish. These include both freshwater and saltwater fish.

About Jeremy Wade
Jeremy Wade was born in Ipswich, England. He grew up in a place called Nayland. His father was a vicar there. Jeremy studied zoology at Bristol University. He also got a teaching certificate. He used to be a biology teacher.
During his many trips, Jeremy has faced some challenges. He has caught malaria. He has also been threatened with a gun. Once, he even survived a plane crash. Jeremy speaks several languages. He knows Portuguese very well. He learned it while fishing in Brazil. He also speaks French and Spanish.
Jeremy's Fishing Adventures
Jeremy Wade became interested in fishing when he was young. He started fishing as a child. This was on the banks of the River Stour in England. He said he was drawn to the river. It was like climbers are drawn to mountains. His first tries to catch fish were not successful. But then a friend helped him. After his first catch, he loved it. His parents let him stay out all day. A big part of his fishing was finding new places. He still loves to explore new places today.
In 1982, Jeremy took his first trip overseas. He went to the mountain rivers of India. He said this trip was very hard. He only had £200 (about $265 USD) for three months. But he caught some fish. These included Himalayan mahseer up to 18 pounds. When he came back to England, he wrote articles. These were about his experiences in India. He felt proud of what he did. He started saving money for another trip. He wanted to find more amazing fish.
How River Monsters Began
The idea for his TV show River Monsters came in 2005. He was in India again, in the Himalayan mountains. He heard stories from local people. They said some people had gone missing in the river. Jeremy started to investigate. Locals thought a giant fish was the cause. He realized this could be a great TV show. It would be interesting for everyone, not just fishers.
The fish turned out to be the Goonch catfish. Jeremy caught a huge one, weighing 161 pounds! This was a big battle for the episode. He has also traveled to the Congo and Amazon rainforests many times. With help from local fishers, Jeremy travels the world. He tries to catch many different kinds of fish.
Jeremy wrote his first book in 1992. It was called Somewhere Down the Crazy River. He wrote it with Paul Boote. Jeremy also wrote River Monsters. This book tells about his hunts and journeys.
Jeremy's TV Shows and Films
Jeremy Wade also acts in movies. He was an extra in a 1986 Bollywood film. It was called Allah Rakha. Later, he was in a 2014 film. It was called Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys. He played an expert on lamprey fish. He had already studied these fish for River Monsters.
In 2016, Jeremy was filming near Australia. He and his team found a man. The man was stranded on a remote island. He had lost his boat while looking for oysters. The man had been stuck for two days. Jeremy and his crew helped him.
In 2018, Jeremy hosted a new show. It was called Mighty Rivers on Animal Planet. In this show, he looked into why big freshwater fish were disappearing. These were from the world's most famous rivers.
