Jessica Lee Rose (born April 26, 1987) is an American-New Zealand actress. She first became well-known for playing a character named Bree in a series of YouTube video blogs. These videos were called lonelygirl15 and started in June 2006. Bree was a fictional (not real) teenage character who was homeschooled.
In September 2006, a newspaper called the Los Angeles Times revealed that lonelygirl15 was not a real person. This news made Jessica Lee Rose very famous and also made more people watch the video series. In 2007, Rose won a Webby Award for her role as Bree.
After leaving lonelygirl15 in August 2007, Rose acted in other TV shows and movies. She played "Jen K." on ABC Family's show Greek. She also appeared in movies like Perfect Sport and Ghost Town. She was also in web series such as Sorority Forever.

Early Life and Acting Start
Jessica Lee Rose was born in Salisbury, Maryland, in the U.S. When she was eight years old, she moved to Mount Maunganui, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. She went to Mount Maunganui College for part of her high school education. After that, she took acting classes in Auckland. In 2004, she moved to Auckland to study make-up for film and TV.
While studying, Rose worked on short films. She did make-up and costumes for a New Zealand short film called Us. She also helped with make-up for extras on the set of Peter Jackson's movie King Kong. She also played a main role in a short film called Dearly Beloved.
In May 2005, Rose moved back to Salisbury, Maryland, to live with her father. She then joined the New York Film Academy (NYFA) in Universal City, California. While looking for acting jobs, she found an advertisement on Craigslist for a film project. It was called The Children of Anchor Cove. She tried out for the main part and was chosen to play Bree.
Becoming Famous on YouTube
The lonelygirl15 video blogs first appeared in the middle of 2006. Jessica Lee Rose played Bree, a 16-year-old girl who posted videos under the name lonelygirl15. The videos looked very real. Bree talked about normal teenage problems at first. But soon, the story became strange, talking about secret family practices.
The series quickly became very popular. It was the most subscribed channel on YouTube. However, some people started to wonder if the videos were real or just a trick.
In September 2006, the Los Angeles Times found out that the lonelygirl15 videos were a made-up story. This news caused a big stir in the media. Jessica Lee Rose and the creators of lonelygirl15 became famous around the world. They were interviewed by many magazines and TV shows. In October 2006, the United Nations even chose Rose, through her character Bree, to help with an ad campaign. This campaign aimed to fight poverty.
In August 2007, Rose got a role on the TV show Greek. She played "Jen K.", who was Rusty Cartwright's girlfriend. In one episode, her character even joked about her famous role, saying, "It's like I'm living with lonelygirl15!"
An episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent in November 2006 was inspired by the lonelygirl15 videos. It was called "Weeping Willow".
On June 16, 2016, ten years after the series first started, lonelygirl15 appeared again. In this video, Bree talked to an unnamed 15-year-old. She reassured them about being chosen, just as Bree had been.
