Jesús María Satrústegui Azpiroz (born 12 February 1954) is a Spanish former footballer. He played as a striker, which is a player who mainly tries to score goals.

Playing for Real Sociedad

Satrústegui was born in Pamplona, Navarre, Spain. He played his entire professional football career for one team: Real Sociedad. This team is located in the Basque Country.

He scored 133 goals in 297 matches for Real Sociedad in La Liga. La Liga is Spain's top football league. This was a club record for many decades. Satrústegui helped his team win the league title twice. They won in 1981 and again in 1982. He scored 29 goals during these two winning seasons.

Injury and Retirement

In November 1982, Satrústegui suffered a serious knee injury. This happened during a match against Real Zaragoza. He injured his meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament. These are important parts of the knee.

After this injury, Satrústegui never fully recovered. He decided to retire from football at the end of the 1985–86 season. He was 32 years old when he stopped playing professionally.

Playing for Spain

Satrústegui also played for the Spanish national team. He earned 32 caps, which means he played in 32 international matches. He scored eight goals for his country.

He represented Spain in two major tournaments. These were UEFA Euro 1980 and the 1982 FIFA World Cup. He stopped playing for the national team right after the 1982 World Cup. His last game was a 0–0 draw against England.
