Jo Frost's Career
Working as a Nanny
Jo Frost worked as a nanny for more than 30 years. She started in 1989 when she was 18 years old. She worked for families in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Some of her clients were famous people, including television producer John Lloyd.
Television Shows

Jo Frost became a TV star when she was hired for the Channel 4 show Supernanny in the UK, which began in 2004. In each episode, she visited a family and used clear rules and fun activities to help improve their lives. She taught parents how to manage their children's behavior.
Some experts thought her methods were very good. However, not everyone agreed with her approach. Some people worried that the children's privacy was not respected. Others felt that putting children on a "naughty step" might make them feel embarrassed.
The Supernanny show was very popular, with 6 million people watching it in its first year. By 2014, similar Supernanny shows were made in 48 different countries. The British show ran for six seasons. An American version of Supernanny also aired on ABC and was very successful. Because of its popularity, Jo Frost was invited to appear on famous talk shows like The Oprah Winfrey Show.
In 2010, Jo Frost hosted Jo Frost: Extreme Parental Guidance in the UK. This show focused on specific family issues and had fewer home visits. Later, Family S.O.S. with Jo Frost started on TLC in the United States in May 2013. While Supernanny focused on discipline, Family S.O.S. dealt with more serious family challenges. Jo Frost was also one of the producers for this show.
Starting in April 2014, she hosted the talk show Family Matters for ITV. On this show, families talked about their difficulties, and Jo Frost used her experience to help them. Over time, Jo Frost changed her style, becoming softer and no longer pointing her finger or wearing very strict suits, which had been her signature look on Supernanny.
A new season of Supernanny with 20 episodes premiered on January 1, 2020. This was eight years after the ABC version ended. In 2020, Jo Frost was supposed to star in an Australian show called The Parent Jury. However, due to travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, she could not travel for filming, and the show went ahead without her.
Advocacy Work
Jo Frost is a strong supporter of the United Nations Foundation's Shot@Life movement. This group works to reduce childhood diseases and deaths that can be prevented by vaccines. In March 2015, she visited lawmakers to show her support for this movement. Jo Frost also writes a blog to encourage parents to vaccinate their children. She is one of the celebrities who supports #Givingtuesday, which is an international day for giving back to the community.

In 2023, Jo Frost shared that she and her husband never decided to have children of their own. However, she enjoys sharing updates on Instagram about her step-grandson, who is neurodivergent.
Jo Frost also actively supports people who live with anaphylaxis and severe allergies. In 2014, she was an ambassador for FARE (Food, Allergy, Research and Education). She herself has environmental allergies and asthma. When she was a child, she was diagnosed with potentially dangerous allergies to nuts, rye, and shellfish.
