Jonathan Joseph Heder (born October 26, 1977) is an American actor. He is most famous for playing the main character in the comedy movie Napoleon Dynamite (2004). He also lent his voice to the same character in the animated TV show on Fox (2012).
Heder has starred in many comedy films. These include The Benchwarmers (2006), School for Scoundrels (2006), and Blades of Glory (2007). He also appeared in Mama's Boy (2007), When in Rome (2010), and Ghost Team (2016). He has also acted in drama films like For Ellen (2012) and Walt Before Mickey (2015). Jon Heder is also known for his voice acting. He voiced characters in animated movies such as Surf's Up (2007) and its sequel Surf's Up 2: WaveMania (2017). He also voiced a character in Thelma the Unicorn (2024). He was a main voice actor on the Disney XD animated series Pickle and Peanut (2015–2018).

Jon Heder's Early Life
Jon Heder was born on October 26, 1977, in Fort Collins, Colorado. His parents are Helen and James Heder. He has an identical twin brother named Dan. He also has an older sister, Rachel, an older brother, Doug, and two younger brothers, Adam and Matt. His family moved to Salem, Oregon, when he was about two years old.
He went to Walker Middle School and graduated from South Salem High School in 1996. While in high school, he was part of the swim team and the drama club. He is also an Eagle Scout, which is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts. He even worked as a Scoutmaster in 2010.
In 2002, Jon Heder graduated from Brigham Young University. While there, he worked on a short animated film called Pet Shop. He also met Jared Hess and starred in Hess's short film Peluca. This short film later became the famous movie Napoleon Dynamite.
Jon Heder's Acting Career
Jon Heder's big break came with the 2004 comedy movie Napoleon Dynamite. This movie was filmed in Preston, Idaho, and earned a lot of money. In June 2005, Heder won an MTV Movie Award for Best Musical Performance and Breakthrough Male Performance for his role.
On October 8, 2005, he hosted Saturday Night Live, a popular TV comedy show. He also appeared in commercials for the 2005 Utah State Fair with his Napoleon Dynamite co-star Efren Ramirez. They even played their characters again in a funny sketch on the animated show Robot Chicken.
Movies and Voice Acting
In 2005, Heder had a small role in the romantic comedy Just like Heaven. In 2006, he appeared in The Sasquatch Gang. He also starred with Rob Schneider and David Spade in The Benchwarmers (2006). This comedy is about three men who create their own Little League baseball team.
Also in 2006, Heder voiced the character Skull in the animated movie Monster House. He then starred in the comedy School for Scoundrels. In 2007, he co-starred with Will Ferrell in Blades of Glory. In this movie, he played one of two rival figure skaters who have to team up.
Heder's second voice acting role was in 2007. He voiced Chicken Joe, a surfing chicken, in the animated film Surf's Up. He also starred in and produced the 2008 web series Woke Up Dead. This sci-fi comedy is about a college student who thinks he might be dead.
Jon Heder and his twin brother, Dan, played villains in the fourth part of the internet comedy series Sockbaby. Critics praised Heder's performance in When in Rome. He voiced Napoleon Dynamite again for the Fox Network animated series Napoleon Dynamite, which started in January 2012.
In 2013, Heder appeared in the music video for "On Top of the World" by Imagine Dragons. In 2014, he was in the music video for the Chromeo song "Old 45s". In January 2017, he returned as Chicken Joe in Surf's Up 2: WaveMania. In 2024, Heder worked with Jared Hess again on Thelma the Unicorn, an animated movie.
Jon Heder's Personal Life
Jon Heder served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Japan. Because of this, he can speak Japanese very well.
He has been married to Kirsten Bales since 2002. They met while they were both attending Brigham Young University. They are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have four children together.
