Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters is an exciting American animated series. It was made by Hasbro Studios and shown on Netflix. The show is based on the classic Stretch Armstrong action figure from the 1970s. However, this series introduces a brand new superhero world! It features new characters, new bad guys, and a fresh story. Kevin Burke, Victor Cook, and Chris "Doc" Wyatt created the show.

Victor Cook also helped guide the series as the main director. Burke and Wyatt were in charge of the stories. They even wrote a comic book series for IDW Publishing that goes along with the show. The first season came out on Netflix on November 17, 2017. The second season followed on September 7, 2018.

What's the Story?

Jake Armstrong, Nathan Park, and Ricardo Perez were just normal teenagers. They lived in Charter City, a super high-tech place. One day, they had an accident and got covered in a special goo called "Flexarium." This goo gave them amazing superpowers!

Their new powers caught the eye of Jonathan Rook. He's the boss of Rook Unlimited and a big helper for Charter City. Rook offered them a deal: he would keep them out of trouble for the accident if they became Charter City's superhero team, the Flex Fighters. The boys agreed, but only if Rook and everyone else wouldn't know their real names. So, Jake became Stretch, Nathan became Wingspan, and Ricardo became Omni-Mass.

At first, the Flex Fighters trained hard with Malcolm Kane. He was Rook's second-in-command. They fought many villains, including Stretch Monster. This villain seemed to help many of the bad guys. Stretch Monster also had a past with Dr. Racine Cleo, also known as Dr. C. She was Rook's old teacher. Dr. C worked with her ninja friend Riya Dashti, who was also Stretch's classmate and crush.

In their final mission, the Flex Fighters made a shocking discovery. Jonathan Rook and Stretch Monster were the same person! This meant their boss had been their enemy all along. Rook planned to use Dr. C's "HyperFlexarium" formula. He wanted to create an army of monsters and take over the world. With help from Dr. C and Blindstrike, the Flex Fighters escaped Rook. But then, Rook tricked the public. He blamed the Flex Fighters for the damage he caused in the city.

With Charter City under Rook's control, people turned against the Flex Fighters. So, the heroes teamed up with Dr. C and Blindstrike. Their goal was to show everyone Rook's crimes and clear their names.

In season two, Rook had convinced everyone in Charter City that the Flex Fighters were bad guys. The Flex Fighters, Dr. C, and Blindstrike worked together. They fought Rook's hired fighters and tried to clear their names. They also had to deal with Malcolm Kane when a group called the Tech Men attacked.

How the Show Was Made

The original Stretch Armstrong toy came out in 1976. Over the years, the rights to the toy ended up with Hasbro.

There were many tries to make a TV show or movie about Stretch Armstrong. Some live-action movie ideas didn't work out. The idea for this show started as a live-action series about a teenage Stretch Armstrong. But it was later changed to an animated series for kids. Victor Cook joined the team because of his work on The Spectacular Spider-Man. Soon after, Kevin Burke and Chris Wyatt were hired to produce and write.

The show was designed to have individual episodes that also built up a bigger story over the first season. The first sneak peek of the series was shown at HasCon on September 10, 2017.

The animation for the series was done by Digital eMation in South Korea.
