Joseph Francis Mazzello III (born September 21, 1983) is an American actor. He is famous for playing Tim Murphy in the movie Jurassic Park. He also played Roarke Hartman in The River Wild. Later, he was Eugene Sledge in the TV series The Pacific. You might also know him as Dustin Moskovitz in The Social Network. He also played John Deacon, the bass player for the band Queen, in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody.

About Joseph Mazzello
Early Life and Education
Joseph Mazzello was born in Rhinebeck, New York. He grew up in Hyde Park, New York. His parents, Virginia and Joseph Francis Mazzello Jr., owned a dance studio. Joseph went to a Catholic school called Our Lady of Lourdes.
He later attended the University of Southern California. He joined the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 2001. The famous director Steven Spielberg even wrote a letter to recommend him! Joseph paid for his college using money he earned from a small role in The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997). He joked that this was his "graduation present" from Spielberg.
Starting His Acting Journey
Joseph Mazzello's first movie role was a small part in Presumed Innocent in 1990. This movie starred Harrison Ford. After that, he appeared in other films like Radio Flyer and Jersey Girl. He also acted in the TV movie Desperate Choices: To Save My Child in 1992.
In 1993, Joseph got his first big break. He played Tim Murphy in Steven Spielberg's amazing movie Jurassic Park. In the same year, he also starred in Shadowlands. He then appeared in The River Wild in 1994, playing Roarke Hartman.
In 1995, Joseph had roles in The Cure and Three Wishes. He continued his film career with main roles in Star Kid (1997) and Simon Birch (1998). He also did voice acting for the English version of The Adventures of Buratino.
Moving to Television and Directing
Joseph's first movie role in the 2000s was in Wooly Boys (2001). In 2002, he started acting on TV in the show Providence. He then appeared in popular shows like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Without a Trace.
After these TV roles, he acted in movies such as Raising Helen (2004) and The Hollow (2004). He also appeared in The Sensation of Sight (2006) and the short film Beyond All Boundaries (2009). Joseph also tried directing! He made his first short film called Matters of Life and Death in 2007.
Recent Roles and Big Successes
In 2010, Joseph Mazzello played Dustin Moskovitz. Dustin was one of the people who helped start Facebook. This role was in the movie The Social Network, directed by David Fincher. Critics really liked his acting in this movie. He and the other actors were nominated for many awards. Around the same time, he played Eugene Sledge in the TV mini-series The Pacific.
In 2013, Joseph appeared in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. He played a G.I. Joe agent named Mouse. In 2018, he played John Deacon in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. This movie was about the band Queen. In this film, he worked again with Rami Malek, who was also in The Pacific. These movies were very successful! The Social Network earned over $224 million, G.I. Joe: Retaliation earned over $375 million, and Bohemian Rhapsody made over $903 million worldwide.
