Joshua Colley started his acting career on stage. From March 2013 to February 2014, he played the role of Les in the musical Newsies. This was a big show on Broadway.

In January 2014, Joshua was chosen for another important Broadway role. He played Gavroche in the famous musical Les Misérables. He shared this role with Gaten Matarazzo. Joshua performed in Les Misérables from March 2014 to March 2015. Critics praised his performance, calling it "grounded and believable."

In 2016, Joshua took on the main role in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. This show was at the York Theater Company. A cast album of the musical was released later that year.

He also performed as Flounder in The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl. He acted alongside famous stars like Sara Bareilles and John Stamos.
