Joshua Green Peak is a tall mountain in the Saint Elias Mountains of Alaska, United States. It stands 7,135 feet (2,175 meters) high. This peak is located within the huge Wrangell–St. Elias National Park and Preserve. It sits near the start of Dan Creek.

The peak is about 18 miles (29 km) east-southeast of a town called McCarthy. It is also 4 miles (6 km) east-northeast of Williams Peak.

The mountain is named after Joshua Green (1869-1975). He was a businessman from Seattle. Mr. Green helped fund mining projects in the Dan Creek area. The United States Board on Geographic Names officially named the peak in his honor in 1975. Water from the mountain flows into Dan Creek. This creek then joins the Nizina River, which is part of the larger Copper River system.

Climate and Weather

Joshua Green Peak is in a subarctic climate zone. This means it has very long, cold, and snowy winters. The summers are usually cool.

The weather here is greatly affected by the Gulf of Alaska. Winds from the Gulf hit the Saint Elias Mountains. This forces the air upwards, a process called orographic lift. As the air rises, it cools and drops a lot of rain and snow.

Temperatures can fall below −20 °C (–4 °F). With wind chill, it can feel colder than −30 °C (–22 °F). The best time to visit or climb the peak is usually from May through June. The weather is most favorable during these months.
