By March 2004, Ménez became the youngest professional football player in Ligue 1 history. He made his professional debut in the 2004–05 season. With Sochaux, he played in the UEFA Cup (now UEFA Europa League).

After two seasons, he moved to Monaco. There, he became a key playmaking midfielder. Later, he signed with Italian club Roma in Serie A. He played in the UEFA Champions League for the first time with Roma. In July 2011, Ménez returned to France to play for Paris Saint-Germain. He then joined AC Milan in June 2014.

Jérémy Ménez's Football Journey

Starting Out in Football

Jérémy Ménez was born in Longjumeau, France. He grew up in Vitry-sur-Seine and supported his local team, Paris Saint-Germain. Jérémy loved football because his father and older brother also played.

He began his career at a local club called CA Vitry. After a year, he joined the Centre de Formation de Paris. This youth club helped young players develop their football skills. Ménez became a skilled playmaker there. He later joined CSF Brétigny, another local club. After a year, he moved to the professional club Sochaux.

Playing for Sochaux

At Sochaux, Ménez joined the club's youth academy. He also attended a special high school for athletes. On 24 March 2004, at just 16 years old, he signed his first professional contract. This made him the youngest professional footballer in Ligue 1 history. He was given the number 26 shirt for the senior team.

Before signing, big English clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United were interested in him. Ménez even visited Manchester United's stadium, Old Trafford. But he decided to stay in France.

On 7 August 2004, Ménez played his first professional game for Sochaux. It was against Ajaccio, and Sochaux won 1–0. Even though he was very young, Ménez played regularly. On 20 November, he scored his first goal against Monaco. Two months later, he became the youngest player in the league to score three goals in one game (a hat-trick). This happened in a 4–0 win over Bordeaux.

Ménez also played in the 2004–05 UEFA Cup. Sochaux was knocked out in the Round of 32. After the season, he was nominated for a Young Player of the Year award.

For the 2005–06 season, Ménez wore the number 11 shirt. He played in 31 league matches and scored three goals. Sochaux finished 15th that season. Ménez then wanted to leave the club.

Time at Monaco

On 22 June 2006, Ménez joined Monaco. He signed a four-year contract. He was given the number 10 shirt. He made his debut on 19 August in a 1–1 draw with Rennes. On 30 September, he scored his first goal for Monaco in a 2–1 win over Le Mans.

He faced some challenges getting regular playing time at first. However, he started playing more consistently and scored goals in several matches. He finished the 2006–07 season by scoring the only goal in a win against champions Lyon.

In the 2007–08 season, Ménez scored his first goal against his old club, Sochaux. He scored two goals in a 3–1 win against Lens. This was his first time scoring more than one goal in a game since his hat-trick three years earlier. He had an injury in February 2008, which kept him out for three months.

Moving to Roma

On 27 August 2008, Ménez signed a four-year contract with Italian club Roma. He was seen as a replacement for other wingers who had left. He chose the number 24 shirt. He made his debut on 31 August against Napoli. Ménez also played in the UEFA Champions League for the first time with Roma. On 6 December, he scored his first goal for the club against Chievo.

He sometimes struggled to play full matches or start consistently. However, he scored a goal against AC Milan in May 2009, helping Roma win 3–2. The next week, he scored again against Torino.

For the 2009–10 season, Ménez wore the number 94 shirt. He scored against Milan in October 2009. He faced some criticism for his effort in one game but later apologized and committed to the team. He finished the season strongly, helping Roma finish second in the league.
