Muhammed-Kabeer Olarewaju Gbaja-Biamila Sr. (born September 24, 1977), known as "KGB", is a former American football player. He played as a defensive end for the Green Bay Packers for nine years. Kabeer played college football for the San Diego State Aztecs. The Packers chose him in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL draft. He was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2003, which is a special game for the best players.

Early Life and Community Work

Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila grew up in Los Angeles, California. He went to Crenshaw High School. There, he was a talented athlete in both football and track and field for three years.

While in high school, Kabeer was part of a special project called Food from the 'Hood. This was an organic food company started by students. It began after the 1992 Los Angeles riots. The company even sold its own salad dressings in big grocery stores and online.

For their amazing work, Food From the Hood received the "American Achievement Award" from Newsweek magazine. Kabeer and other founders were even featured on the magazine's cover. In 1994, Prince Charles visited Crenshaw High School because of an invitation from Food From the Hood.

College Football Career

Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila went to San Diego State University. He was a starting player for three years with the Aztecs football team. He became a record-breaker for the school.

He finished his college career with 33 sacks, which was a new school record. A "sack" is when a defensive player tackles the opposing quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. This record was previously held by another famous player, Mike Douglass. Kabeer was recognized as one of the best players in his conference for his last three seasons. He also earned a degree in business administration.

Playing in the NFL

The Green Bay Packers picked Kabeer in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL draft. He was the 149th player chosen overall. In his first year, he played in seven games and made 1.5 sacks.

Breaking Out in 2001

Kabeer had a fantastic season in 2001. In his first game against the Detroit Lions, he made three sacks and forced a fumble. He did it again in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for December 2001. He finished that season with an impressive 13.5 sacks.

Continued Success and Pro Bowl

In 2002, Kabeer made an exciting play against the Chicago Bears. He intercepted a pass and ran it back 72 yards for a touchdown! He also had another three-sack game against the Miami Dolphins. He ended the 2002 season with 12 sacks.

In 2003, Kabeer made history for the Packers. He was the first player to get ten or more sacks in three years in a row. He finished the 2003 season with ten sacks. Because of his great performance, he was chosen for the Pro Bowl that year.

Kabeer continued to play strongly in 2004, getting 13.5 sacks. He was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for a game against the Chicago Bears. In 2005, he started all 16 games and recorded eight sacks.

In October 2007, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila broke a major record for the Green Bay Packers. He surpassed the team's all-time sack record, which was previously held by the legendary Reggie White. Kabeer finished the 2007 season with 9.5 sacks.

He played in seven games in 2008 before being released by the team in November.

Hall of Fame

In 2013, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila was honored for his amazing career. He was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame. This is a very special recognition for players who have made a big impact on the team.

Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila is one of several children. His mother is Bolatito Gbaja-Biamila and his father is Mustapha Gbaja-Biamila. He has a younger brother, Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, who also played as a linebacker in the NFL.

His middle name, "Ọláńrewájú," means "Wealth is moving forward" in the Yoruba language. His last name, “Gbàjàbíàmílà,” means "One who, while fighting, pretends to be separating a fight."

Kabeer was raised in a Muslim household. During his first year with the Green Bay Packers, he became a Christian. He later explored other religious beliefs.

He has been involved in helping his community. He worked with Crown Financial Ministries, which teaches people how to manage money using Biblical principles. He also helped organize "Lambeau Leap of Faith," a large faith-based event at Lambeau Field in 2007.

Kabeer also served on the board of directors for Freedom House Ministries. This organization helps homeless families in Green Bay find stable homes and jobs. In 2007, he started "Kabeer's Freedom House Sack Fund." He and his teammates pledged money for every sack made to support this important cause.

In 2016, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila appeared at a political rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, alongside politicians Ted Cruz and Scott Walker.
