By January 2018, when he was just 22 years old, he became the top-ranked bowler in both One Day International (ODI) and Test cricket. Early Career and Youth Success

Kagiso Rabada started his cricket journey playing for the Gauteng team in December 2013. He played in the CSA Provincial One-Day Competition.

Rabada was chosen to play for South Africa's Under-19 team in the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He was a key player for his team, which won the tournament. He took 14 wickets, which means he got 14 batters out. This was the second-highest number of wickets in the whole tournament. He also had the best bowling figures in one game, taking 6 wickets for only 25 runs against Australia A. Because of his strong performance, he was called "the fastest and most feared bowler in the competition."

Moving to Professional Teams

After his success in the Under-19 World Cup, Rabada joined the Lions team for their last two games of the Sunfoil Series season. He took 7 wickets in these matches.

In February 2015, Rabada set a new record by taking 14 wickets in a single match for the Lions against the Dolphins. This included an amazing 9 wickets for only 33 runs in one innings. His total of 14 wickets for 105 runs is the best bowling performance in South African franchise cricket history.

In February 2016, Rabada signed a short contract to play county cricket for Kent County Cricket Club in England. He chose this over a contract in the IPL to gain more experience playing in English conditions. He played in two County Championship matches and six T20 matches for Kent.

Playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL)

In February 2017, the Delhi Daredevils team bought Rabada for a large sum of money in the 2017 Indian Premier League auction. He was bought again by Delhi (now called Delhi Capitals) in the 2018 IPL auction. However, he could not play that season due to a back injury.

He continued to play for Delhi Capitals in the 2019 Indian Premier League. He took 25 wickets, becoming the highest wicket-taker for his team and the second-highest overall in that season. His team reached the playoffs for the first time since 2012. In the 2020 IPL, he was the top wicket-taker of the season, with 30 wickets in 17 matches. Rabada played a very important role in his team's success in both seasons.

In the 2022 IPL auction, Rabada was bought by the Punjab Kings. In April 2023, he reached a big milestone by taking his 100th IPL wicket in his 64th match. This made him the fastest bowler to reach 100 wickets in the competition, based on the number of matches played.
