Kalmar Municipality (Kalmar kommun) is a local government area in southeastern Sweden. It is part of Kalmar County. The main city and administrative center of the municipality is Kalmar.
The municipality was formed in 1971. This happened when the City of Kalmar joined together with five smaller areas around it. Today, the municipality includes fifteen original local government units.
