Karachi (Urdu: ضلع کراچی) is the biggest city and a very important port in Pakistan. It is located on the Arabian Sea, which is part of the Indian Ocean. Karachi is the capital city of the Sindh province.
This city is a major hub for business, money, factories, and transportation in Pakistan. Its large port handles most of the international trade for Pakistan and also for the nearby country of Afghanistan, which doesn't have a coastline. Karachi also has a big international airport.
Many different industries are found here, like building ships, engineering, making chemicals, plastics, and textiles. This includes making things from cotton and jute. Karachi was the capital of Pakistan from 1947 to 1959, before Islamabad became the new capital.
