Karlos Montez Dansby (born November 3, 1981) is a former American football player. He was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). Karlos played college football for the Auburn Tigers. He was recognized as an All-American player. He was picked by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2004 NFL Draft. He also played for the Miami Dolphins, the Cleveland Browns, and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Early Life and High School Sports
Karlos Dansby grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. He went to Woodlawn High School. There, he was a star athlete in many sports.
He played football as both a linebacker and a wide receiver. As a senior, he caught 51 passes for 857 yards. He also made 81 tackles and six sacks on defense.
Karlos was also an All-state power forward in basketball. In track, he competed in jumping events. He was a very talented athlete in all three sports.
College Football Career at Auburn
Karlos Dansby played college football for the Auburn Tigers football team. He attended Auburn University from 2000 to 2003. He started his college career as a wide receiver. Later, he switched to playing outside linebacker.
He quickly became one of the best defenders in college football. He was even a semi-finalist for the Butkus Award. This award goes to the best linebacker in college football.
During his time at Auburn, he played in 36 games. He made 218 tackles and 10 quarterback sacks. He also forced seven fumbles and caught eight interceptions. As a senior, he was named a First-team All-American. He was also a First-team All-Southeastern Conference player in both 2002 and 2003.
Karlos Dansby's NFL Journey
First Time with the Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals chose Karlos Dansby in the second round of the 2004 NFL draft. He was the 33rd player picked overall. He signed a four-year contract with the team.
In his first year, 2004, he became a starting outside linebacker. He made his first career sack in Week 3. In Week 7, he got his first interception. He finished his rookie season with 60 tackles and five sacks.
In 2005, Karlos continued to play well. In the first game, he intercepted a pass and ran it back for his first career touchdown. He had another interception for a touchdown later that season. He ended 2005 with 88 tackles, four sacks, and three interceptions.
By 2007, he was a key player, leading the team with 117 tackles. The Cardinals used the "franchise tag" on him in 2008 and 2009. This meant they could keep him on the team for another year. In 2008, he helped the Cardinals reach the Super Bowl. He had over 100 tackles and two interceptions that year.
In a playoff game in 2010, Karlos made a huge play. He recovered a fumble in overtime and ran it back for a touchdown. This play won the game for the Cardinals.
Playing for the Miami Dolphins
In 2010, Karlos Dansby signed a big contract with the Miami Dolphins. He played for the Dolphins for three seasons. He was released by the team in March 2013.
Return to the Arizona Cardinals
Karlos Dansby returned to play for the Arizona Cardinals in 2013. He signed a one-year deal. He continued to be a strong player for them.
Time with the Cleveland Browns
In 2014, Karlos signed a four-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. He played two seasons for the Browns before being released in 2016.
Playing for the Cincinnati Bengals

Third Stint with the Arizona Cardinals and Retirement
In 2017, Karlos Dansby signed a one-year contract to play for the Arizona Cardinals again. In Week 9, he made an interception that helped his team win. He was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance.
Karlos Dansby retired at the end of the 2017 season. He had a very long and successful career. He finished with 1,422 total tackles. This was more tackles than some famous Hall of Fame players. Even though he never made it to the Pro Bowl, he was a consistent and impactful player.
