Where is Kilkenny Located?
Kilkenny city is found in Le Sueur County. It is right next to Kilkenny Township. The city covers a total area of about 0.14 square miles (0.35 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
A Look at Kilkenny's Past
Many Irish people moved to this area in the 1850s. They named Kilkenny Township and Kilkenny city after County Kilkenny and the city of Kilkenny in Ireland. The city of Kilkenny officially became its own town in June 1883. Long ago, a train line called the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railway served the area.
What Kilkenny Has Today
As of 2024, Kilkenny has some useful places for its residents. There is a bank and a post office. The city also has two churches: one Lutheran and one Catholic. The Catholic church is named after Saint Canice. It is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
Next to Saint Canice's church, you can find Little Irishman's Park. This park has a fun playground and a baseball diamond for sports.
