Killearn is a small village located in the Stirling area of Scotland. Its name comes from an old Scottish Gaelic phrase, Ceann Fhearann, which means "Head of the Land" or "End of the Territory." Later, this changed to Cill Fhearann, suggesting there was a place of worship there. About 1,700 people live in Killearn.
The village is a great place with its own primary school, a local Co-Op shop, and clubs for kids before and after school. There are also two nurseries for younger children.
Killearn is located about 15 kilometers (9 miles) north of Glasgow. It is also close to Loch Lomond, which is about 7 kilometers (4 miles) to the east. The village sits near the Campsie Fells, which are hills. You can often see the Dumgoyne, a tall volcanic plug, from the village. Two rivers, the Endrick Water and Blane Water, meet nearby.

George Buchanan: A Famous Scholar
Killearn is famous for being the birthplace of George Buchanan (born February 1506 – died September 1582). He was a very important historian and a humanist scholar. Humanists were thinkers who focused on human values and achievements.
Buchanan was part of a group called the Monarchomachs. These thinkers believed that the power of a ruler should come from the people, not just from birthright. This idea is called popular sovereignty.
To remember George Buchanan, there is a tall monument, an Obelisk, in the center of Killearn village.
