Kim Roberts is a talented Canadian actress. She is well-known for her voice role as Mayor Goodway in the popular animated show Paw Patrol. You might also recognize her from shows like The Sinner, The Handmaid's Tale, and Schitt's Creek. She has appeared in many movies and TV shows, bringing a variety of characters to life.

Early Life and First Steps in Acting
Kim Roberts' parents came from the Caribbean. Her mother, Josephine, is from Dominica, and her father, Oswald, was from Jamaica. They met and married in Toronto, Canada, where Kim and her brother Mark were born. Kim still feels a strong connection to both islands.
When she was a child, Kim was part of a group called The Friendship Circle. This group of young singers and dancers performed folk songs at schools and festivals. They even appeared on a TV show!
Kim started acting at home, putting on plays for her family and friends. At age 12, she attended a drama workshop at the University of Toronto. This experience made her even more interested in acting. Later, she studied acting at the Claude Watson School for the Arts.
Kim Roberts' Acting Journey
Kim first went to the University of Western Ontario to study political science. She thought about becoming a lawyer. But a summer theater class at York University changed her path. The head of the theater department invited her to study acting there.
Soon after, Kim joined a touring theater group called Company of Sirens. She acted, produced, and directed plays for three years. Then, she started working in film and television. She became the first Black Canadian woman to have a speaking role in a national TV commercial! It was for Benylin cough syrup.
Since then, Kim has been in over 200 different TV shows and movies. She has worked with many famous actors like Christopher Plummer, Helen Mirren, Jackie Chan, and Julie Andrews. She has also been directed by well-known people like Steven Spielberg and Maya Angelou.
Kim is one of the thirteen people who started the Obsidian Theatre Company. This is Canada's main Black theater company. She also narrated The Book of Negroes for a CBC podcast. In 1999, Kim was one of the first actors to film a scene inside CIA Headquarters in Langley, Virginia.
