Kim So-eun (Hangul: 김소은; born September 6, 1989) is a South Korean actress. She became well-known in 2009 after starring in the popular TV show Boys Over Flowers. Since then, she has appeared in many other dramas. Some of her famous roles include Happiness in the Wind (2010), A Thousand Kisses (2011–2012), Liar Game (2014), Scholar Who Walks the Night (2015), Our Gap-soon (2016–2017), Evergreen (2018), and Three Bold Siblings (2022–2023). Kim So-eun has won several awards, such as Best New Actress and a Special Acting Award, for her performances.

Kim So-eun's Acting Journey
Early Roles and First Steps
Kim So-eun started her acting career in 2004. She was in junior high school when she got a small part in the movie Two Guys. After that, she appeared in minor roles in other TV shows and films. These included Sisters of the Sea and The Show Must Go On.
Becoming a Star in 2009
Kim So-eun became famous in 2009. This happened when she played the main character's best friend in the hit drama Boys Over Flowers. In the same year, she showed her acting skills in the historical drama Empress Cheonchu. For this role, she learned how to ride a horse and use a bow and arrow. Kim also acted as an older woman in the romantic comedy He Who Can't Marry. This show was a remake of a Japanese drama.
Taking on Lead Roles (2010–2012)
In 2010, Kim So-eun got her first main role in the daily drama Happiness in the Wind. This role helped her become even more popular across Asia.
She then starred in the weekend drama A Thousand Kisses (2011–2012). This show explored relationships where there was a big age difference.
In 2012, she appeared in a Chinese drama called Secret Angel. She also returned to Korean TV in the show Happy Ending. That same year, she was part of a reality show called Music and Lyrics. In this show, she worked with musician Lee Junho to create a song. Their song, "Love is Sad," was released as a single.
After playing Princess Sukhwi in the historical drama The King's Doctor (2012–2013), Kim starred in After School: Lucky or Not. This show was available online and on mobile phones. She also co-hosted Glitter, a variety show about young adults.
Back to TV and New Challenges (2014–Present)
In 2014, Kim So-eun starred in the horror film Mourning Grave. She played a ghost girl who becomes friends with a boy who can see ghosts. She then took on a main role in Liar Game. This was a Korean TV show based on a Japanese comic book. Kim also joined the reality show We Got Married. In this show, she was "virtually married" to actor Song Jae-rim. This made them both very popular.
In 2015, Kim starred in Scholar Who Walks the Night, a show based on a webtoon. She played two different characters in this drama. She also appeared in the web drama Falling for Challenge with Xiumin.
From 2016 to 2017, she played the main character in the family drama Our Gap-soon. In 2017, she was in the KBS Drama Special You're Closer than I Think. She also confirmed her return to movies with the romance fantasy film Are you in love?.
In 2018, Kim starred in the romantic comedy series That Man Oh Soo. In August 2021, she joined a new management company called Ascendio Reserve. Her most recent drama was Three Bold Siblings, which aired from 2022 to 2023.
Other Interests and Activities
Skiing Talent
When Kim So-eun was a child, she trained to be a professional skier. She was even part of the national athletic skiing team. Her training stopped when she was discovered as a model at a skiing competition in 2003. However, she still loves the sport. In 2012, she appeared in videos that taught people how to ski at a resort.
