Kimberly Ann Guilfoyle (/ˈɡɪlfɔɪl/ GHIL-foyl; born March 9, 1969) is an American television personality and a former lawyer. She worked as a prosecutor in San Francisco and Los Angeles. She was an advisor and helped with fundraising for President Donald Trump's 2020 presidential campaign. She has been nominated to be the U.S. Ambassador to Greece for President Trump's second term.

Guilfoyle studied at the University of California, Davis, and the University of San Francisco School of Law. She earned a law degree from the University of San Francisco. She then became a prosecuting attorney in California. From 2000 to 2004, she was an assistant district attorney in San Francisco. She was married to politician Gavin Newsom from 2001 to 2006. During his first two years as mayor of San Francisco, she was the first lady of the city. She was engaged to Donald Trump Jr. from 2021 until they separated in late 2024.

From 2006 to 2018, Guilfoyle worked at Fox News. She was a co-host of the show The Five. After leaving Fox News, she joined America First Policies. This group supports Donald Trump and helps Republicans in elections. In December 2024, President-elect Trump nominated her to be the U.S. Ambassador to Greece.

Early Life and Education

Kimberly Guilfoyle was born in San Francisco on March 9, 1969. Her mother was from Puerto Rico and her father was from Ireland. She was raised in the Catholic Church. She grew up in the Mission District of San Francisco and in Westlake, Daly City.

Guilfoyle's mother, Mercedes, taught special education. She passed away when Kimberly was 11 years old. Her father, Anthony "Tony" Guilfoyle, was born in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland. He moved to the United States in 1957 when he was 20. He served in the U.S. Army for four years. After the army, he worked in construction and later became a real estate investor. He was a close advisor to his son-in-law, Gavin Newsom, who was the mayor of San Francisco. Tony Guilfoyle passed away in 2008.

Guilfoyle graduated from Mercy High School in San Francisco. She then attended the University of California, Davis. She earned her law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1994. While in law school, she worked as an intern at the San Francisco district attorney's office. She also worked as a model for fashion and department stores. Later, she studied at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland. There, she researched international children's rights.

After law school, Guilfoyle taught in a public school district. She also worked briefly as a prosecutor in San Francisco. In 1996, she lost her job when a new district attorney was elected. She then worked for four years in Los Angeles as a deputy district attorney. She handled cases involving both adults and young people. She received awards at the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office, including Prosecutor of the Month.

In 2000, she was hired again by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. She was an assistant district attorney there from 2000 to 2004. During this time, she worked on a high-profile case in 2002, People v. Noel and Knoller. This case involved a dog attack and gained international attention.

In January 2004, Guilfoyle moved to New York. She became a host for the show Both Sides on Court TV. She also worked as a legal expert on Anderson Cooper 360°. In February 2006, she joined Fox News. She hosted the weekend show The Lineup. After that show ended, she continued to contribute to the network. In 2011, she became a co-host of The Five. She worked on this show until 2018.

She also hosted and co-hosted Outnumbered for many episodes until June 2018. Guilfoyle appeared weekly on a segment called "Is It Legal?" on The O'Reilly Factor. She was also a regular guest on Brian Kilmeade's radio show. Guilfoyle sometimes filled in as a guest host for other Fox News shows like Hannity and Fox & Friends.

In mid-2017, Guilfoyle signed a new long-term contract with Fox. However, in July 2018, she left Fox News suddenly. She then started working for a group that supports Donald Trump.

Writing and Books

In 2015, Guilfoyle published a book called Making the Case: How to Be Your Own Best Advocate. This book shared her experiences growing up and working as a prosecutor. It encouraged people to speak up for themselves.

In December 2016, there were reports that Guilfoyle was being considered for the role of press secretary for President Donald Trump. Sean Spicer was chosen for the position instead. In May 2017, Guilfoyle confirmed she had spoken with the White House about the job after Spicer resigned. She said she would be honored to serve the country. She later stated she was under contract with Fox, indicating she did not take the White House job at that time.

In 2018, The Washington Post described Guilfoyle as a strong supporter of President Trump. In 2019, Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr. visited college campuses together. They were paid for their appearances, which caused some discussion among students.

In 2020, Guilfoyle was reported to be the chair of the finance committee for the Trump Victory Committee. She helped manage a fundraising division for the Trump 2020 campaign. This division worked to raise money for the campaign.

At the 2020 Republican National Convention in August 2020, Guilfoyle gave a speech supporting Trump. Some observers described her speech as very energetic. She was criticized for calling herself a first-generation American, as her mother was from Puerto Rico and therefore an American citizen. She is a first-generation American on her father's side, who immigrated from Ireland.

On December 10, 2024, President-elect Trump nominated Guilfoyle to be the next United States Ambassador to Greece. In July 2025, she testified and was approved by the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee for this role.

Early in her career as a prosecutor, Guilfoyle briefly dated William Getty. In December 2001, she married politician Gavin Newsom. He was a San Francisco city supervisor at the time. They separated in 2004 and filed for divorce in January 2005. Their divorce was finalized on February 28, 2006.

On May 27, 2006, Guilfoyle married Eric Villency in Barbados. On October 4, 2006, Guilfoyle gave birth to their son, Ronan. Guilfoyle and Villency divorced in November 2009.

In June 2018, it was confirmed that Guilfoyle was dating Donald Trump Jr.. In mid-2019, Guilfoyle and Trump Jr. bought a home together in The Hamptons. They sold it in March 2021. Also in March 2021, they bought a home together in Jupiter, Florida. Guilfoyle and Trump Jr. became engaged on December 31, 2020, though the news was not made public until January 2022. They lived together in their Jupiter home until it was put up for sale in 2025. Guilfoyle and Trump Jr. ended their relationship in late 2024.
