Kiteretsu Daihyakka (キテレツ大百科, "Kiteretsu Large Encyclopedia"; commonly shortened to Kiteretsu) is a fun manga and anime series from Japan. It was created by a duo called Fujiko Fujio. The story is about a super smart boy who invents amazing gadgets!

The manga first appeared in a children's magazine called Kodomo no Hikari. It ran from April 1974 to July 1977. Later, it became a popular anime TV show with 331 episodes. This anime was shown on Fuji TV in Japan from March 1988 to June 1996. You might have even seen it in India, where an English version aired on Cartoon Network.

The Story of Kiteretsu

The series follows a young inventor named Eiichi Kite, also known as Kiteretsu. He is a super smart boy genius! Kiteretsu is a descendant of a famous inventor named D. Kiteretsu.

Kiteretsu builds a robot friend named Korosuke. Together, they often travel through time using a special time machine that Kiteretsu invented. They go on many exciting adventures!

Kiteretsu also has a group of friends. Miyoko Nonohana is a girl from his neighborhood who he likes a lot. There's also Buta Gorira (whose real name is Kumada Kaoru), who is a bit of a bully but also funny. His friend Tongari is often picked on by Buta Gorira. Even though they are still in grade school, they have many adventures together.

He can fix machines and create new gadgets based on his ancestor's encyclopedia. He's not very good at sports, but his brain makes up for it!
  • Korosuke: This is Kiteretsu's robot helper. Korosuke often ends his sentences with "nari." He usually wears a fake samurai sword. Kiteretsu built him using plans from the special encyclopedia.
