LaCrosse is a small town in Alachua County, Florida. It is located about 15 miles north of Gainesville. LaCrosse is part of the larger Gainesville area.

In 2020, the town had a population of 316 people. This was a slight decrease from 360 people in 2010. The land around LaCrosse is mostly used for farming. Farmers in this area grow many potatoes, which is why it's sometimes called the "Potato District." They also grow tobacco and other vegetables, and raise cattle.

History of LaCrosse

People first settled in the LaCrosse area around the 1840s. The first known settler was a French immigrant named John Cellon. By 1860, LaCrosse was a farming village. At that time, most of the farms grew cotton.

A post office opened in LaCrosse on April 22, 1881. The LaCrosse Missionary Baptist Church was built in 1884. LaCrosse officially became a town on December 17, 1897. This means it was given the power to govern itself. The town was officially reincorporated, or made a town again, in 1957.

LaCrosse is located at about 29.84 degrees North latitude and 82.40 degrees West longitude. The town covers a total area of about 4.7 square miles (12.17 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small amount of water.
