Journey on American Idol

Auditions and Hollywood Week

Lacey tried out again for the ninth season in Orlando, Florida. She sang "Over the Rainbow" by Judy Garland. All the judges, including guest judge Kristin Chenoweth, loved her performance. She moved on to the next round.

During Hollywood week, Lacey sang "What a Wonderful World". This performance was shown in a video montage. It highlighted contestants who made it to the Top 24.

Live Performances and Elimination

Lacey performed "Landslide" during the semi-finals. The judges were not very impressed. In the second week, her performance of "Kiss Me" also received negative comments from the judges. However, the lead singer of the band, Leigh Nash, liked Lacey's version.

Her cover of "The Story" was seen as a big improvement. This was on the last night before the finals. Lacey eventually made it into the Top 12.

When she sang "Ruby Tuesday" by The Rolling Stones, the judges felt it "lacked energy." But Simon Cowell said her singing was good. Lacey was eliminated from the show on March 17, 2010.

During her elimination night, "What a Wonderful World" played. It showed a video of the Top 12's journey. The "Judge's Save" rule was brought back that season. Even though Lacey sang "The Story" again, the judges chose not to save her.
