Katie Stevens (born December 8, 1992) is an American actress and singer. She became well-known after appearing on the TV show American Idol. She also starred in popular TV shows like Faking It and The Bold Type.

Early Life and Talents
Katie Stevens grew up in Middlebury, Connecticut. Her parents are Mark and Clara Stevens. She finished high school in June 2010. When she was younger, she was named the 2009 Westbury Outstanding Teen.
Katie has Portuguese family on her mother's side. She can speak Portuguese. She helped create a scholarship fund for students at her high school. This fund helps students go to college. Katie was also on her high school's swim team for four years.
She started performing very young. At age five, she sang the national anthem at a party. When she was seven, she sang at her aunt's wedding. Katie was also active in local theater. She played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. She also played Sharpay in High School Musical. Katie even performed at Carnegie Hall when she was 13 years old.

Becoming an American Idol Star
Katie auditioned for American Idol in August 2009. She sang "At Last" and all the judges liked her. One judge, Kara DioGuardi, said Katie was one of the most talented 16-year-olds she had ever seen. Kara even thought Katie could win the show.
During the show, judges often talked about her song choices. They also mentioned her age and how she sang. After performing "Chain of Fools", she was told she was good at R&B-pop music. She made it to the Top 9.
For her Top 9 performance, she sang "Let It Be". The judges thought it was a big improvement. Katie was eliminated from American Idol on April 14, 2010. She then went on the American Idols LIVE! Tour 2010 that summer. On tour, she sang "Here We Go Again" and "Fighter".

Acting Roles: Faking It and The Bold Type
After American Idol, Katie appeared on several talk shows. She performed "Over the Rainbow" on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She also sang on the Late Show with David Letterman and Wendy Williams Show.
In 2012, Katie played the main role in a YouTube video called "Beauty and the Beat." She also acted in a stage musical called Bare: A Pop Opera in 2013.
Katie got a big role as Karma Ashcroft in the TV show Faking It. This show started in April 2014. In 2015, she played Lindsey Willows in the CSI finale movie, Immortality.
In 2016, Katie was cast as Jane Sloan in The Bold Type. This show started in June 2017 and ran for five seasons. Her role in The Bold Type became very popular.
Personal Life
In October 2019, Katie Stevens married musician Paul DiGiovanni. They had been dating for over five years. The couple lives in Nashville, Tennessee. Their first child, a daughter, was born in February 2023.
