Langhorne Creek is a small town in South Australia. It's about 55 kilometres (35 miles) from the big city of Adelaide. In 2021, about 444 people lived there.
The town got its name from Alfred Langhorne. He was a cattle drover who brought his cattle here in the 1840s. Alfred made a well-known crossing point over the nearby Bremer River. People called it Langhorne's Crossing, and that's where the town grew up.
Langhorne Creek is very close to the Bremer River. This means it often has floods. But the farmers here use this floodwater to water their vineyards and fields. It's special because using floodwater for irrigation is rare in Australia and around the world.
