Leytron is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Martigny district. It is part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Leytron was first mentioned in official records way back in 1219. At that time, it was known as Leitrun. This shows that people have lived and worked in this area for a very long time!

Leytron covers an area of about 26.9 square kilometers (or 10.4 square miles). A big part of this land is used for farming, about 27.1%. Forests cover another large portion, around 30.1%.
About 6.3% of Leytron's land is built up with buildings and roads. A small amount, 0.6%, is covered by rivers or lakes. The remaining 36.2% is unproductive land, meaning it's not used for farming or building. This includes rocky areas and natural vegetation.
Leytron is made up of several smaller communities called hamlets. These include Leytron-Plan, Produit, Montagnon, Les Places, Dugny, and Le Fou. These hamlets are located at different heights, from about 497 meters (1,631 feet) to 1,041 meters (3,415 feet) above sea level. The well-known settlement of Ovronnaz is also part of Leytron, sitting even higher at 1,350 meters (4,429 feet).
