Lina Nielsen, born on March 13, 1996, is a talented British athlete. She is known for her amazing skills in sprinting and hurdling. Lina also teaches yoga! She has achieved great things in athletics, including winning medals for her country.
In August 2022, Lina shared that she had been diagnosed with a condition called multiple sclerosis (MS) nine years earlier.

About Lina Nielsen
Growing Up
Lina grew up in Leytonstone, a part of East London. Her mother is from Egypt and Sudan, and her father is from Denmark. In 2017, Lina finished her studies at Queen Mary University of London. She earned a degree in chemistry.
Her Running Journey
Lina is a fantastic runner. She won the 400 meter hurdles race at the 2021 European Athletics Team Championships. Her time was 55.59 seconds.
Lina has a twin sister named Laviai Nielsen. Laviai is also an international athlete who runs the 400 meter race. They are both very talented!
At the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Lina won a bronze medal. She was part of the 4x400 meter relay team. Her sister Laviai was also on this medal-winning team.
Lina won a gold medal in the 400 meter hurdles at the 2024 British Athletics Championships. This win helped her join the Great Britain team for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
During the Olympics, she had a tough moment in the semi-finals. She hit a hurdle and fell. But Lina showed great spirit! She recovered and ran for Great Britain in the 4x400 meter relay heat. Her team qualified for the final. Even though Lina did not run in the final race, her team finished third. This meant Lina won her first Olympic medal, a bronze!
Outside of Running
Lina is also a certified yoga teacher. She completed her yoga training in India in 2019. Now, she is one of the yoga instructors on a popular fitness app called Fiit.
Living with MS
In August 2022, Lina shared something very personal. She revealed that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) when she was 17. MS is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. Lina chose to keep her diagnosis private for nine years.
However, just before a big competition in Oregon, she experienced a setback from her MS. After this, she decided to share her story publicly. She wanted to inspire others and raise awareness about living with MS.
