Lina Nielsen grew up in Leytonstone, East London. She has a twin sister named Laviai. Their mother is from Egypt and Sudan, and their father is Danish. In 2017, Lina finished her studies at Queen Mary University of London. She earned a degree in chemistry.

Key Athletics Achievements
Lina won the 400-meter hurdles race at the 2021 European Athletics Team Championships. Her winning time was 55.59 seconds.
At the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Lina earned a bronze medal. She was part of the 4×400 meters relay team. Her sister Laviai was also on this team.
Lina won the gold medal in the 400 meters hurdles at the 2024 British Athletics Championships. This win helped her join the Great Britain team for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
During the Olympics, she competed in the semi-finals but fell after hitting a hurdle. Despite this, she recovered and ran for Great Britain in the women's 4×400 meter relay heat. Her team qualified for the final. Even though Lina did not run in the final race, the team's third-place finish meant she won her first Olympic medal, a bronze!
On February 15, 2025, Lina broke the British women’s indoor 300m record. She finished the race in 36.53 seconds in Birmingham. At the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, she was part of the British 4×400 meters relay team that won a silver medal.

Lina Nielsen's Personal Life
Lina Nielsen is a certified yoga teacher. She completed her training in Rishikesh in the summer of 2019. She now teaches yoga on the fitness app Fiit.
Living with Multiple Sclerosis
In August 2022, Lina Nielsen shared that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) when she was 17. MS is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. She kept her diagnosis private for nine years. However, after experiencing a flare-up of her symptoms just before a big competition, she decided to share her story publicly.
