List of Tuskegee Airmen facts for kids
The Tuskegee Airmen were a brave group of mostly African-American pilots and airmen who fought during World War II. The name "Tuskegee Airmen" also includes all the people who supported them. This means navigators, bombardiers, mechanics, instructors, nurses, cooks, and many others. They were all part of a special program that showed how skilled and courageous these individuals were. In 2006, they were honored with the Congressional Gold Medal for their amazing service.

This list uses some abbreviations to describe what each person did:
- C/O – Commanding Officer (a leader)
- P/AC – Pilot or Aircrew (flew the planes)
- SS – School Staff (worked at the training school)
- OFS – Operational Flight Support (helped with flights on the ground)
- H – Honorary Airman (given the title to honor them)
- † – Killed in Action (died fighting)
- (POW) – Prisoner of War (captured by the enemy)
- (WIA) – Wounded in Action (injured while fighting)
- (MIA) – Missing in Action (disappeared during combat)
