This article tells you about the important leaders who have been in charge of Sudan's government. These leaders are called "heads of government." The role started in 1952 with the title of Chief Minister. Later, it became known as the Prime Minister.
The job of Prime Minister was stopped for a while after a big change in government in 1989. It was brought back in 2017. At that time, Bakri Hassan Saleh became the Prime Minister.
Later, Abdalla Hamdok was chosen as Prime Minister on August 21, 2019. This was part of Sudan's plan to become more democratic. However, in October 2021, he was removed from his position for a short time. He was then put back in charge in November 2021 after an agreement with the military. Mr. Hamdok resigned in January 2022. After that, Osman Hussein served as the acting Prime Minister until April 2025.
Currently, Kamil Idris is the Prime Minister of Sudan. He was appointed by the Transitional Sovereignty Council on May 31, 2025.

What is a Head of Government?
A head of government is the main leader of a country's executive branch. This person is usually in charge of the day-to-day running of the government. They lead the cabinet and make sure laws are put into action. In Sudan, this role has been called Chief Minister and Prime Minister.
Titles of Sudan's Leaders
Over the years, the person leading Sudan's government has had different titles:
- 1952–1956: The leader was called the Chief Minister.
- 1956–1989; 2019–present: The leader has been called the Prime Minister.
