Barbados is an amazing island country located in the Lesser Antilles part of the West Indies. It's in the Caribbean region of North America. This island is about 34 kilometres (21 miles) long and up to 23 km (14 mi) wide. Its total area is 432 km2 (167 sq mi).
Barbados is found in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean. It's about 100 km (62 mi) east of the Windward Islands and the Caribbean Sea. This means it's east of the Windwards, which are part of the Lesser Antilles. The island is roughly at 13°N of the equator. It's also about 168 km (104 mi) east of Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Martinique is 180 km (110 mi) to the north-east, and Trinidad and Tobago is 400 km (250 mi) to the north-east. Luckily, Barbados is usually outside the main path of Atlantic hurricanes. The capital and biggest city on the island is Bridgetown.

Rivers of Barbados
Even though Barbados is a small island, it has several rivers. These rivers are important for the island's environment and its people. Some rivers flow into the Atlantic Ocean, while others flow into the calmer Caribbean Sea.
Rivers Flowing to the Atlantic Ocean
The eastern side of Barbados faces the mighty Atlantic Ocean. Here are some of the rivers that flow into it:

On the western side, Barbados has a coastline along the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Here are some rivers that empty into this sea:
- Constitution River: This river flows into the Caribbean Sea in the Saint Michael Parish.
- Indian River: The Indian River also reaches the Caribbean Sea in Saint Michael Parish.
