About Loman
Loman is found in northern Minnesota. It sits between two larger towns: International Falls and Baudette. You can find it where State Highway 11 (MN 11) crosses County Road 32 (Black River Road). This area is part of the Northwest Koochiching Unorganized Territory.
Two important rivers meet right at Loman: the Rainy River and the Black River. Other small places nearby include Indus, Pelland, and Littlefork.
Loman is about 21 miles west-southwest of International Falls. It's also about 47 miles east-southeast of Baudette.
A Look Back in Time
Loman has had a US Post Office in operation since 1901. The very first postmaster, or person in charge of the post office, was Miss Jennie Mourhess.
The community of Loman was named after the people who first settled there. These early pioneers were George W. Loman and his wife, Mary M. McFarland.
