Lostine is a small city in Wallowa County, Oregon, United States. It is located in the northeastern part of the state. In 2020, about 241 people lived there. The city's motto is "A stop and a smile away," showing its friendly nature.

History of Lostine
Lostine was named after another place in Kansas. That place was a small post office for farmers in the 1870s.
The Lostine, Oregon, post office opened in August 1878. W.R. Laughlin was the first postmaster. The city itself was officially planned out in 1884.
Geography and Location
Lostine is found along Oregon Route 82. It is located about halfway between the towns of Wallowa and Enterprise.
Natural Surroundings
The Lostine River flows nearby. This river is a branch of the Wallowa River. Lostine is also east of the Wallowa Mountains. These mountains are a beautiful part of northeastern Oregon.
