Becoming a Music Star
Hugo Pierre Leclercq, or Madeon, started making music when he was 11 years old. He first made a type of dance music called "hands-up" under different names. By 2010, he began making house music using the name Madeon. This name is a mix-up of letters from one of his old nicknames. In the same year, he won a remix contest for a song called "The Island" by the group Pendulum.
The next year, he remixed songs by other electronic artists. His video "Pop Culture" made him famous around the world. He uploaded it to YouTube on July 11, 2011. The video showed him mixing parts of 39 songs live. He used a Novation Launchpad to do this. The video quickly became very popular, getting over six million views in just a few days. Madeon later shared that he got the idea, bought the Launchpad, and recorded the song all on the same day.
When Madeon performs live, he uses Launchpads and other music equipment. His first live show was in Paris in April 2011. He opened for the band Yelle. His first show in the UK was in London. Madeon's music was played several times on Pete Tong's radio show on BBC Radio 1. His first song, "Icarus", and his remix for deadmau5's "Raise Your Weapon" were played there.
Madeon went on tour with Lady Gaga. He was an opening act for her Born This Way Ball tour. He also worked with Lady Gaga on three songs for her album Artpop.
In 2012, Madeon played at several big music festivals in the United States. These included Ultra Music Festival and Coachella. He also played at UK dance music festivals. Madeon's song "Technicolor" was released on August 3, 2013. On February 25, 2014, he gave away a free song called "Cut the Kid" on his website. He said he made this song around 2011 or 2012.
Many of Madeon's songs have been used in movies, TV shows, and video games. For example, "Icarus" was in Dancing with the Stars and the movie The Mitchells vs. the Machines. "Finale" and "Imperium" were in the FIFA video game series. "The City" appeared in NHL 15 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

Madeon later said these songs were made on December 6, 2017. He explained that he created them when he felt frustrated with music. He sees this collection as a way to understand the Good Faith album better.
