Manny Lawson was born on July 3, 1984. He is a former American football player who played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the NC State Wolfpack. The San Francisco 49ers chose him in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft. Manny Lawson also played for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills.

Manny Lawson's Early Life and Talents
Manny Lawson was born in Omaha, Nebraska. His father was in the Air Force at Offutt Air Force Base. Manny showed great talent in both football and basketball when he was in middle school. He also went to Spring Creek Elementary School in Seven Springs, North Carolina.
High School Achievements
Lawson attended Eastern Wayne High School in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Experts rated him as one of the top 25 players in North Carolina during his senior year. He made 54 tackles and 12 sacks in defense. He also ran for 456 yards on offense. He was named the Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Manny was also a star in track & field. He qualified for the state indoor track meet in four events. These included the long jump, triple jump, 55-meter dash, and 200-meter dash. He also competed in the 55-meter hurdles.
College Football Career at NC State
Manny Lawson played college football for the NC State Wolfpack. He was a very important player for their team.
=Starting His College Journey (2002-2003)
In 2002, Manny played in every game as a reserve outside linebacker. He made 35 tackles and caused a fumble. He also blocked three punts, which was the most in the nation. He won an award for being the team's Most Valuable Specialist.
In 2003, he played in every game as an outside linebacker. He made 53 tackles and blocked two punts. He also competed in track & field during the winter and spring. He won the ACC title in the indoor long jump. He was named the Wolfpack's Special Teams Player of the Year.
Becoming a Star Player (2004-2005)
In 2004, Manny was named Second-team All-ACC. He had seven sacks, which means he tackled the opposing quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. He also made 50 tackles and recovered two fumbles. He was a co-winner of the Cary Brewbaker Award for best defensive lineman.
In 2005, Lawson was chosen for the All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team. He started almost every game as a right defensive end. He made a career-high 58 tackles. He also had 10.5 sacks, which was second in his conference.

Playing for the San Francisco 49ers (2006-2010)
The San Francisco 49ers picked Manny Lawson in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft. They wanted him to help their defense. Even though he played defensive end in college, the 49ers believed he could be a great linebacker.
Lawson impressed other teams with his speed and athletic ability. He showed he could play linebacker very well. In his first year, he had 2.5 sacks, one interception, and two fumble recoveries. He was even voted Rookie of the Week in Week 2 for his great performance against the St. Louis Rams.
In 2007, he started the season strong with 11 tackles in the first two games. However, he tore his ACL (a knee injury) during practice. This injury unfortunately ended his season early.
Time with the Cincinnati Bengals (2011-2012)
On August 2, 2011, Manny Lawson signed a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. He played well enough that he re-signed with the Bengals on April 14, 2012.
Joining the Buffalo Bills (2013-2015)
On March 13, 2013, Lawson signed a four-year contract with the Buffalo Bills. He switched positions from outside linebacker to defensive end for a while. Later, he switched back to outside linebacker for the 2015 season.
In 2016, Lawson was suspended for one game due to a personal conduct policy violation. He was released by the Bills on September 2, 2016.
