Marcy-Holmes is a cool neighborhood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It's part of the University community. Most of this area has homes and sits on a hill, giving you a great view of the Mississippi River and the city! There's also a small industrial area right along the river.
The neighborhood is bordered by important places. To the south, you'll find the Mississippi River. To the east, it's next to the University of Minnesota and 15th Avenue Southeast. To the north, railroad tracks separate it from the Como Neighborhood. To the west, it's bordered by Central Avenue. Even though it seems central, Marcy-Holmes is considered part of Southeast Minneapolis. Almost every street here is labeled "SE," meaning it's South of East Hennepin Avenue and East of the Mississippi River.
Marcy-Holmes is well known for its many different kinds of people. It also has popular shopping and entertainment areas like St. Anthony Main and Dinkytown. It's super close to the East Bank of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus.

How Marcy-Holmes Got Its Name
The neighborhood is named after two parks located within it: Marcy Park and Holmes Park. These parks were named to honor important people:
- Marcy Park is named after William L. Marcy.
- Holmes Park is named after Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr..
Who Represents Marcy-Holmes?
Most of Marcy-Holmes is in a political area called Ward 3. This ward is represented by a Minneapolis City Council member named Michael Rainville. A smaller part of the neighborhood, east of I-35W, is in Ward 2. This area is represented by councilmember Robin Wonsley. City council members help make decisions for the city.
