In the 2015 general election, Fletcher ran for election in the Doncaster North area. He stood against Ed Miliband, who was the leader of the Labour Party at the time.
Two years later, in the 2017 general election, he was a candidate in Stockton North. Although he increased the Conservative Party's votes there, he did not win the election.
