Masashi Ebinuma (海老沼 匡, Ebinuma Masashi, born 15 February 1990) is a famous Japanese judoka. He is known for his amazing skills in judo, a martial art and sport.

Masashi Ebinuma has won the world championship three times. He won in 2011, 2013, and 2014. For three years, he was ranked as the number one judoka in his weight class. He is especially good at a judo move called seoi nage. He has also won the All-Japan national championship four times.

Ebinuma also earned bronze medals at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. In 2014, he married fellow judoka Kana Abe. Both of them are champions in judo.

Masashi Ebinuma's Judo Journey

Masashi Ebinuma's biggest achievements include his three gold medals at the World Judo Championships. He also won two bronze medals at the Olympic Games. These Olympic medals were won in London in 2012 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Olympic Moments: London 2012

At the 2012 London Olympics, Masashi Ebinuma had a very memorable match. During his quarter-final fight against Cho Jun-ho from South Korea, the judges first said Cho was the winner. However, a special review team looked at the match again. They decided that Ebinuma should be the winner instead. This was a very rare event in Olympic judo. The International Judo Federation said it was important to make sure the right person won.

Later, in his bronze medal match at the London 2012 Olympics, something else interesting happened. His opponent, Paweł Zagrodnik from Poland, scored what looked like a winning point called an ippon. But the judges changed their minds and downgraded it to a waza-ari. This change saved Ebinuma from losing and helped him win his first Olympic medal.

Olympic Moments: Rio 2016

At the 2016 Olympics, Ebinuma continued to show his skill. He won against Charles Chibana, Ma Duanbin, and Wander Mateo. He then lost to An Ba-ul. Because An Ba-ul made it to the final match, Ebinuma had another chance to win a medal. He entered a special round called the repechage. There, he defeated Antoine Bouchard to earn his second Olympic bronze medal.
