On September 11, 2015, a large mobile crane accidentally fell at the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. This sad event led to the deaths of at least 118 people, and another 394 people were injured. Most of the victims were visitors from other countries.

The crane crashed into a part of the mosque where many people were gathered.

The people who were hurt or died came from many different countries. These included citizens from Indonesia, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, Algeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Morocco, Iraq, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom. Many of these people were in Mecca for the Hajj, which is a special religious journey.
