Meyne Wyatt (born 1989) is an Aboriginal Australian actor. He is well-known for his roles in plays, movies, and TV shows.
In 2012, he acted in the musical movie The Sapphires. He also started working with the Bell Shakespeare company that year. His role in the TV show Redfern Now earned him nominations for awards in 2014. From 2014 to 2016, Meyne played Nate Kinski in the popular TV show Neighbours.

Meyne Wyatt's Early Life and Education
Meyne Wyatt was born in Kalgoorlie, Australia, in 1989. His mother, Sue, is a painter and illustrator. His father, Brian, worked for the National Native Title Council. Meyne's father was a Yamatji man, and his mother is from the Wongatha group. He is the youngest of four children.
When he was 13, Meyne went to Hale School in Perth. After school, he studied theatre at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). He was accepted into both WAAPA and the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). Meyne chose to attend NIDA and finished his studies there in 2010.
Meyne Wyatt's Acting Career
After graduating from NIDA, Meyne Wyatt performed in many plays. These plays were in cities like Sydney, Adelaide, and Brisbane. In 2011, he won the Best Newcomer award at the Sydney Theatre Awards. This was for his role as an Aboriginal teenager in a play called Silent Disco.
First Film and TV Roles
In 2012, Meyne was cast as Jimmy Middleton in the movie The Sapphires. This was a musical comedy film. He also performed with the Bell Shakespeare company in a play called The School for Wives.
In 2013, Meyne Wyatt played the main character in a play called Peter Pan. He also filmed a role in The Broken Shore. This was a TV mini-series based on a book. He also appeared in the movie The Turning. In this film, he played a footballer named Frank Leaper.
Meyne appeared in the second season of Redfern Now. He played a father whose new baby goes missing. He was supposed to be in the first season but couldn't due to other work. In 2014, Meyne also joined the movie Strangerland. He acted alongside famous actors like Nicole Kidman.
Joining the Cast of Neighbours
On July 20, 2014, it was announced that Meyne Wyatt would join the TV show Neighbours. He played the character Nate Kinski. Meyne was the first Indigenous actor to join the main cast of Neighbours since it started in 1985. The show's producer said Meyne was the best actor for the role. Meyne moved to Melbourne for filming. His first episode as Nate aired on August 18, 2014.
In November 2014, Meyne also started appearing in Black Comedy. This was a TV show with short comedy skits.
Later Roles and Stage Work
Meyne took a break from Neighbours to act in a play called King Lear. He performed with Geoffrey Rush from November 2015 to January 2016. Meyne's father passed away in October, which made rehearsals difficult. However, Meyne found acting in the play to be a helpful distraction. He also appeared in the movie What If It Works?.
Meyne left Neighbours in early 2016. His last scenes aired in June of that year. In 2017, he appeared in the American TV series The Leftovers. This show was filmed in Australia. In 2018, he was a regular actor in the TV drama Mystery Road.
Meyne Wyatt's first play, City of Gold, was published in July 2019. This play was performed in Brisbane and then in Sydney.
In 2021, Meyne Wyatt spoke out about racism on the set of Neighbours. He shared several experiences of racism and heard comments that were not kind.
Meyne starred in the 2021 ABC comedy series Preppers. He also appeared in The Moogai and Strife. In April 2025, Meyne Wyatt was announced as part of the cast for the second season of Return to Paradise.
Other Activities and Achievements
In June 2020, Meyne Wyatt gave a powerful speech on the TV show Q+A. The speech was about Black Lives Matter and Aboriginal deaths in custody. In his speech, he talked about how racism has affected his life. Many news outlets covered his speech. Some people called it one of the best moments on Australian television.
In 2020, Meyne painted a self-portrait and entered it into the Archibald Prize. He became the first Indigenous artist to win the Packing Room Prize in September 2020.
He also helped write a children's book called Maku. He wrote it with Randa Abdel-Fattah, and it was published in 2022.
