Michael Gough (born Francis Michael Gough; November 23, 1916 – March 17, 2011) was a famous English actor. He appeared in over 150 movies and TV shows!
He is best known for two main things:
- His roles in the scary Hammer Horror Films starting in 1958.
- Playing Batman's loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth, in four Batman movies: Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin.
Michael Gough and actor Pat Hingle were the only two actors to be in all four of these Batman movies. Gough also worked with director Tim Burton on other movies like Sleepy Hollow, Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, and Alice in Wonderland.

Early Life and Career Beginnings
Michael Gough was born on November 23, 1916, in Kuala Lumpur, which was then called British Malaya. His parents were Frances Atkins and Frances Berkely Gough. He grew up and became interested in acting.
Later Life and Passing
Michael Gough was married four times and had three children named Emma, Simon, and Jasper.
He passed away on March 17, 2011, at his home in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. He was 94 years old and died from an illness. Michael Keaton, who played Batman in two of the movies with Gough, shared a touching message: "To Mick - my butler, my confidant, my friend, my Alfred. I love you. God bless. Michael (Mr. Wayne) Keaton." Michael Gough was cremated, and his ashes were scattered at sea.
