Michael Edward Reagan (born John Charles Flaugher; March 18, 1945) is an American political commentator. He is also a Republican strategist and was a radio talk show host. Michael is the adopted son of former U.S. president Ronald Reagan and his first wife, actress Jane Wyman. Today, he writes columns for Newsmax.
Early life
Michael Edward Reagan was born in Los Angeles, California. He was adopted by Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman shortly after his birth.
He went to Loyola High School for a short time. In 1964, he graduated from the Judson School. This was a boarding school near Scottsdale, Arizona.
He attended Arizona State University and Los Angeles Valley College. However, he did not graduate from either school.
Careers
Salesman
Before 1970, Reagan worked as a salesman for a clothing company. Later, he became a director for a food service company in Los Angeles. In 1981, he was hired as a salesman for a circuit board company.
Actor
Reagan has had small roles in movies and TV shows since 1985. One of these was Falcon Crest. His adopted mother, Jane Wyman, also starred in that show.
Television
In 1987, Reagan was the host for the first season of the TV game show Lingo.
Radio
His work in talk radio began in Southern California. He was a guest host for Michael Jackson's talk show on KABC in Los Angeles. After this, he got his own talk show on KSDO radio in San Diego.
Reagan also hosted The Michael Reagan Show across the country. This show was on air for most of the 2000s. Since then, he has focused on public speaking about his adopted father.
Author
In 1988, he wrote a book about his life. It was called Michael Reagan: On the Outside Looking In. He wrote it with Joe Hyams.
In 2005, he wrote another book called Twice Adopted. This book shared his feelings about being adopted. It also talked about his parents' divorce and his faith.
Personal life
In June 1971, Reagan married Pamela Gail Putnam. She was the daughter of Duane Putnam, a former football coach. The couple divorced in 1972.
He married Colleen Sterns in 1975. She is an interior decorator. They have two children, Cameron and Ashley. Reagan and his wife live in the Toluca Lake area of Los Angeles.
