Michelle Gomez (born November 23, 1966) is an actress from Scotland. She became well-known for her roles in comedy shows like The Book Group (2002–2003), Green Wing (2004–2007), and Bad Education (2012–2013). She also played Missy in the popular British science fiction show Doctor Who from 2014 to 2017. For this role, she was nominated for a big award called the BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Gomez also gained praise for her roles as Lilith / Madam Satan and Mary Wardwell in the Netflix supernatural horror series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018–2020). She also appeared as Miranda Croft in the HBO Max dark comedy thriller series The Flight Attendant (2020–2022).

Early Life and Education
Michelle Gomez was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Her parents are Tony and May Gomez. Her father, Tony, was a photographer and came from Montserrat. Her mother, May, ran a modelling agency.
When Michelle was seven years old, she saw a play called Kiss Me, Kate. From that moment, she knew she wanted to be an actress. Her parents supported her dream. She went to Shawlands Academy from 1978 to 1983. Later, she trained to be an actress at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Acting Career Highlights
Michelle Gomez's first big acting job was in the 1998 film The ... House. This movie was based on short stories by Irvine Welsh. After that, she starred in the popular Channel 4 comedy-drama The Book Group. She then got the role of Sue White in the Channel 4 comedy Green Wing.
She also played Michelle in the BBC show Carrie and Barry. She was PC Sally Bobbins in the BBC 2 sitcom Feel the Force. In 2005, Gomez appeared in the film Chromophobia. In 2007, she starred in a drama called Wedding Belles. She also performed in a play called Boeing-Boeing in London.
Becoming Missy in Doctor Who
In 2014, Michelle Gomez started a recurring role in Doctor Who. She played a character named Missy. In the show's eighth series finale, it was revealed that Missy was actually the Master. The Master is the Doctor's old enemy. Missy is a shorter version of "Mistress," which is the female word for "Master."
Gomez played Missy again in the ninth series of Doctor Who. She also returned for the tenth series, which started in April 2017. In May 2017, Gomez announced that this would be her last series playing Missy. Her performance as Missy was highly praised. She was nominated for the Best Actress (Television) award at the 2015 British Academy Scotland Awards. She also received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the British Academy Television Awards.
Recent Television Roles
In 2018, Gomez was cast in the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. She played two characters: Lilith and Madam Satan, as well as Mary Wardwell. She later appeared as Miranda Croft in the HBO Max dark comedy thriller series The Flight Attendant. This show premiered in November 2020 and was renewed for a second season. The second season started airing on April 21, 2022.
In 2021, Gomez joined the cast of Doom Patrol for its third season. She played the character of Madame Rouge. She also lent her voice to the character of Morag in The Loud House Movie.
Personal Life
Michelle Gomez has been married to actor Jack Davenport since May 1, 2000. They welcomed their son in 2010. On February 28, 2023, Gomez shared on Instagram that she, Jack, and their son had become American citizens.
