Michelle Keegan (born 3 June 1987) is an English actress. She is famous for playing Tina McIntyre in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street from 2008 to 2014. She also played Georgie Lane in the BBC army drama Our Girl from 2016 to 2020.

Keegan has starred in many other popular shows. She played Tina Moore in the TV movie Tina and Bobby (2017) and Erin Croft in the comedy series Brassic (2019–present). More recently, she appeared as Kate Thorne in Ten Pound Poms (2023–present) and as Maya Stern in the Netflix thriller Fool Me Once (2024).

Early Life and First Jobs

Michelle Keegan was born in Stockport, England. Her family has roots in different places. Her grandmother was from Gibraltar, and she also has distant Italian and Irish relatives.

She went to St Patrick's RC High School in Eccles and later studied at the Manchester School of Acting. Before becoming a famous actress, she had regular jobs. She worked in the Selfridges department store and as a check-in agent at Manchester Airport.

Acting Career

Breakthrough in Coronation Street

In 2007, Keegan auditioned for the role of Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street. It was only her second audition ever, and she beat about 900 other people to get the part. Coronation Street is a long-running show about the lives of people in a fictional town in Manchester.

She played Tina for six years. Her character was part of many major stories on the show. In 2010, the newspaper The Guardian named Tina McIntyre one of the 10 best characters in the show's history. Keegan left the show in 2014, and her character was killed off.

Success in TV Dramas

After leaving Coronation Street, Keegan starred in many other TV shows. In 2015, she appeared in the BBC drama series Ordinary Lies.

A year later, she took the lead role of Georgie Lane in the second series of the BBC drama Our Girl. The show is about a female medic in the British Army. Keegan replaced actress Lacey Turner and continued in the role for three series, leaving in 2020.

In 2017, she played Tina Moore in the three-part series Tina and Bobby. The show told the story of the relationship between football legend Bobby Moore and his wife, Tina.

Recent Roles

Since 2019, Keegan has played Erin Croft in the Sky comedy-drama Brassic. The show is about a group of friends living in the north of England.

In 2023, she starred in Ten Pound Poms. This drama is about British citizens who moved to Australia in the 1950s for a new life.

In 2024, Keegan starred as Maya Stern in the Netflix thriller Fool Me Once. The series was based on a popular novel by Harlan Coben.

Personal Life

Keegan was in a relationship with singer Max George from The Wanted. They were engaged but separated in 2012.

In September 2013, she announced her engagement to TV personality Mark Wright. The couple got married on 24 May 2015. In December 2024, they announced they were expecting their first child. Their daughter was born on 6 March 2025. They live together in Epping, Essex.
