This exciting series tells the story of five, and later six, teenagers with special powers. They are chosen by the wise leader Zordon to become Power Rangers. Their mission is to stop the evil Rita Repulsa from taking over Earth. This first season had 60 episodes. It finished its first run on May 23, 1994. The show used scenes and ideas from a Japanese series called Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger.
Meet the Power Rangers and Their Foes
This season focuses on five main teenagers. They are Jason Lee Scott (played by Austin St. John), Trini Kwan (played by Thuy Trang), Zack Taylor (played by Walter Emanuel Jones), Kimberly Hart (played by Amy Jo Johnson), and Billy Cranston (played by David Yost).
These teens are given the power to change into "Power Rangers" by Zordon. Their job is to stop Rita Repulsa's evil plans. Rita is voiced by Barbara Goodson. Later, Tommy Oliver (played by Jason David Frank) joins the team. He first appears as a villain, but then becomes the sixth Power Ranger.
Together, the Rangers work to stop Rita's bad ideas. Rita's main helpers include Goldar, the clumsy duo Squatt and Baboo, and the monster-maker Finster. Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull (played by Paul Schrier and Jason Narvy) provide funny moments. They are students at Angel Grove High, where the Rangers also go to school.
