This article is about the awesome characters from the very first Power Rangers show, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and its movie, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. It also includes characters from the miniseries Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers, which is like a part of the third season.

The Power Rangers Team

Jason Lee Scott: The First Red Ranger

Jason Lee Scott was the very first Red Ranger and the original leader of the team. He was super strong and brave!

As the Red Ranger, he controlled the Tyrannosaurus Zord and later the Red Dragon Zord.

He was played by Austin St. John.

Zachary "Zack" Taylor: The First Black Ranger

Zachary "Zack" Taylor was the first Black Ranger. He was also the team's original second-in-command, meaning he helped Jason lead. Zack was known for his cool hip-hop fighting style!

As the Black Ranger, he controlled the Mastodon Zord and later the Lion Zord.

He was played by Walter Emanuel Jones.

Trini Kwan: The First Yellow Ranger

Trini Kwan was the first Yellow Ranger. She was smart, calm, and a skilled martial artist.

As the Yellow Ranger, she controlled the Saber-Tooth Tiger Zord and later the Griffin Zord.

She was played by Thuy Trang.

Kimberly "Kim" Hart: The First Pink Ranger

Kimberly "Kim" Hart was the first Pink Ranger and also the first Pink Ninja Ranger. She was a talented gymnast and always ready to help her friends.

As the Pink Ranger, she controlled the Pterodactyl Zord, the Firebird Zord, and the Crane Zord.

She was played by Amy Jo Johnson.

Billy Cranston: The Blue Ranger Genius

Billy Cranston was the Blue Ranger and later the Blue Ninja Ranger. He was the smartest member of the original team and often invented things to help the Rangers. He was also the longest-lasting original Ranger!

As the Blue Ranger, he controlled the Triceratops Zord, the Unicorn Zord, the Wolf Zord, and the Wolf-Headed Blue Shogunzord.

He was played by David Yost.

Thomas "Tommy" Oliver: Green and White Ranger

Thomas "Tommy" Oliver started as the Green Ranger, who was actually evil at first! But he soon joined the good side. Later, he became the White Ranger and the White Ninja Ranger, taking over as the team's new leader. Tommy was a powerful martial artist.

As the Green Ranger, he controlled the Dragon Zord. As the White Ranger, he controlled the White Tiger Zord, the Falcon Zord, and the Crane-like White Shogunzord.

He was played by Jason David Frank.

Rocky DeSantos: The Second Red Ranger

Rocky DeSantos became the second Red Ranger and the Red Ninja Ranger. He was a skilled martial artist and a loyal friend. He often shared leadership duties with Billy and Kimberly.

When he became the Red Ranger, he controlled the Red Dragon Zord. Later, he controlled the Ape Zord and the Ape-like Red Shogunzord.

He was played by Steve Cardenas.

Adam Park: The Second Black Ranger

Adam Park became the second Black Ranger and the Black Ninja Ranger. He was quiet and thoughtful, but a very strong fighter.

When he became the Black Ranger, he controlled the Lion Zord. Later, he controlled the Frog Zord and the Frog-Headed Black Shogunzord.

He was played by Johnny Yong Bosch.

Aisha Campbell: The Second Yellow Ranger

Aisha Campbell became the second Yellow Ranger and the Yellow Ninja Ranger. She was energetic, caring, and always stood up for what was right.

When she became the Yellow Ranger, she controlled the Griffin Zord. Later, she controlled the Bear Zord and the Bear-Headed Yellow Shogunzord.

She was played by Karan Ashley.

Katherine "Kat" Hillard: The Second Pink Ranger

Katherine "Kat" Hillard became the second Pink Ranger and the second Pink Ninja Ranger. She was a kind and brave friend, and a talented swimmer.

When she became the Pink Ranger, she controlled the Crane Zord. She also became Tommy's co-pilot for the White Shogunzord.

She was played by Catherine Sutherland.

Allies of the Power Rangers

Zordon: The Wise Mentor

Zordon is a super wise being who is stuck in a time warp. He looks like a giant floating head in a tube! He is the Rangers' mentor and gave them their amazing powers. Many years ago, Zordon fought against evil forces, especially Rita Repulsa, and managed to trap her.

He was voiced by David Fielding and later by Robert L. Manahan.

Alpha 5: The Robot Assistant

Alpha 5 is a helpful robot from another planet called Edenoi. He is Zordon's trusted assistant and takes care of the Command Center, which is the Rangers' secret base. Alpha 5 often gets worried but always tries his best to help.

He was voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz.

Ninjor: Creator of the Power Coins

Ninjor is a powerful ninja-like being who actually created the original five Power Coins and Dinozords that the first Power Rangers used. Zordon was the one who gave them out.

He was voiced by Kim Strauss.

Wild West Rangers: Ancestors from the Past

The Wild West Rangers are the ancestors of Rocky, Adam, Aisha, and Billy from the Old West! They temporarily got Ranger powers when Kimberly traveled back in time. Their outfits looked just like their descendants' Ranger suits, but with cool cowboy hats and gear.

White Stranger: Tommy's Ancestor

The White Stranger is an ancestor of Tommy from the Old West. He fights crime in a way that reminds people of the Lone Ranger.

Angel Grove Citizens

Bulk and Skull: From Bullies to Heroes

Farkas "Bulk" Bulkmeier and Eugene "Skull" Skullovitch started as two bullies at Angel Grove High School. Bulk was usually the leader, pulling Skull into silly plans that often ended with them looking foolish.

In the second season, they decided to try and figure out who the Power Rangers really were. In the third season, they joined the Junior Police Force and, with the help of Lieutenant Stone, became much nicer, good-hearted people.

Bulk was played by Paul Schrier and Skull by Jason Narvy.

Ernie: The Youth Center Owner

Ernie owned the Youth Center, a popular hangout spot with a juice bar. He was often seen behind the counter and sometimes gave good advice to the teenagers.

He was played by Richard Genelle.

Mr. Caplan: The Principal

Mr. Caplan was the strict principal of Angel Grove High School. He often encouraged students in their activities. He wore a toupée, which was a funny running gag because it would often get knocked off!

He was played by Henry Cannon.

Ms. Appleby: The Teacher

Ms. Appleby was a teacher at Angel Grove High School.

She was played by Royce Herron.

Lieutenant Jerome Stone: Police Officer

Lieutenant Jerome Stone was a police officer in Angel Grove. He was in charge of Bulk and Skull when they joined the Junior Police Force, helping them become better people.

He was played by Gregg Bullock.

The Villains

Rita Repulsa: The Space Witch

Rita Repulsa was the main bad guy for the first part of the show. She is a powerful witch and the daughter of a super evil being named Master Vile. She was trapped in a space dumpster for 10,000 years by Zordon, but she escaped and came to Earth to cause trouble! Later, she even married Lord Zedd.

Rita was played by Machiko Soga in Japanese footage and Carla Perez in American footage. Her famous screechy voice was provided by Barbara Goodson.

Goldar: Rita and Zedd's Right-Hand Man

Goldar is a manticore-themed knight who serves as Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd's main helper. In the first season, he was a strong fighter, but later he became more of a comic relief character. He often fought the Power Rangers' Zords. When Lord Zedd arrived, Goldar quickly joined him and even got his wings back!

He was voiced by Kerrigan Mahan.

Squatt and Baboo: The Bumbling Duo

Squatt is a short, blue, hobgoblin-like creature, and Baboo is a tall, black, vampire-like monkey. They are a dimwitted duo who work for Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd. Squatt is easily excited and scared, while Baboo is a bit smarter and creates potions and devices for Rita.

They often go to Earth to spy or cheer on other monsters, but they are usually too cowardly to fight themselves. When Lord Zedd took over, their roles became smaller, but they were always around for some laughs.

Squatt was voiced by Michael Sorich and Baboo by Colin Philips.

Finster: The Monster Maker

Finster is a shy, dog-like henchman who works for Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd. He is mainly responsible for creating the monsters the Rangers fight! He sculpts them out of clay and bakes them in his special "Monstermatic" oven.

Finster is very clever and also makes potions and gadgets. He's not really evil, but more like an artist who just happens to work for villains. He once said, "sometimes it's no fun being a bad guy."

Finster was voiced by Robert Axelrod.

Scorpina: The Scorpion Warrior

Scorpina is a human/scorpion hybrid and one of Rita Repulsa's most dangerous fighters, alongside Goldar. She has a human form and a giant scorpion monster form. She uses a boomerang-like sword to attack the Rangers.

Scorpina was an old friend of Rita's and was very cold and calculating. She often fought Jason, the Red Ranger.

She was voiced by Wendee Swan.

Lord Zedd: The Emperor of Evil

Lord Zedd arrived in the second season and was even more powerful and scary than Rita! He was furious with Rita for failing to defeat the Power Rangers, so he shrunk her and sent her away. Zedd became the main villain, focusing on destroying the Rangers, especially Tommy.

He created his own stronger monsters and even had a giant Zord called Serpenterra. Later, Rita returned and tricked him into marrying her with a love potion, but it turned out he actually loved her! They became co-leaders, often bickering but working together.

Lord Zedd was voiced by Robert Axelrod.

Dark Rangers: Evil Counterparts

The Dark Rangers are bad versions of the Power Rangers created by Lord Zedd. There have been a few different versions:

• The first Dark Rangers were a group of punks from Angel Grove High. Lord Zedd gave them evil powers, but the real Rangers defeated them, and they went back to normal.
• In some comics, Lord Zedd created other Dark Rangers from bad people around the world, giving them powers similar to the Thunderzords.
• In another comic story, Lord Zedd turned his own minions – including a clone of Rita, Baboo, Squatt, Goldar, and Finster – into Dark Rangers!

Tom Oliver: Tommy's Clone

Tom Oliver is an exact clone of Tommy Oliver. He was created by a villain called the Wizard of Deception and given the Green Ranger powers to fight the real Tommy. Tom looked just like Tommy and had all his fighting skills.

After a big battle, Tommy managed to break the spell on Tom. Tom felt bad about what he did and decided to stay in the past to make up for his actions, choosing not to be a Ranger anymore.

He was played by Jason David Frank.

Rito Revolto: Rita's Clumsy Brother

Rito Revolto is a Gashadokuro/skeleton monster and Rita Repulsa's younger brother. He's very clumsy and not very smart, which often annoyed Lord Zedd (Rito always called him "Ed"!).

Rito joined Rita and Zedd in the third season and was famous for destroying the Rangers' Thunderzords. He and Goldar also planted a bomb in the Command Center, destroying it!

Rito was voiced by Bob Papenbrook.

Master Vile: Rita's Evil Dad

Master Vile is Rita Repulsa's super evil father and Rito's dad. He's a tall, demon-like being with a magic wand. He's very cunning but can also be quite funny.

Master Vile came to the moon looking for the powerful Zeo Crystal. He even managed to turn the Power Rangers into powerless children! But the Aquitian Rangers came to help, and Master Vile eventually left in a tantrum.

He was voiced by Simon Prescott.

Hydro Hog: Emperor of Dark Waters

Hydro Hog is a powerful water monster and the main enemy of the Aquitian Rangers. He was known for destroying many planets and could drain all the water, which was dangerous for the Aquitian Rangers who need water to survive.

He was very strong, even blocking the Shogun Megazord's sword! But he was eventually defeated by the Shogun Megafalconzord.

Hydro Hog was voiced by Brad Orchard.

Foot Soldiers: The Bad Guys' Armies

Putty Patrol

The Putty Patrol are the standard foot soldiers used by Rita Repulsa. They are made of clay and, while not super strong or smart, they attack in large numbers. They make funny gurgling noises when they talk.

There were also stronger versions called Super Putties and Lord Zedd's own army called Z-Putties. The Z-Putties were stronger but had a weakness: a "Z" on their chests that would make them shatter if hit!

Tenga Warriors

The Tenga Warriors are crow-like foot soldiers that Rito Revolto brought as a wedding gift for Rita and Zedd. Rita said they were the most vicious warriors in the universe, but they were often clumsy. They could talk and were much harder to defeat than the Putties.

Ivan Ooze: The Movie Villain

Ivan Ooze was the main villain in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. He was a powerful and comical tyrant who had been imprisoned for 6,000 years by Zordon.

When he was released, Ivan Ooze quickly defeated Zordon and Alpha 5, leaving the Rangers powerless. He then trapped Lord Zedd and Rita in a snowglobe! Ivan brainwashed parents to dig up his giant insect-like machines, Hornitor and Scorpitron, to destroy Angel Grove. The Rangers had to get new powers to defeat him.

He was played by Paul Freeman.

Monsters: Rita and Zedd's Creations

Rita and Lord Zedd had many different monsters to fight the Power Rangers!

• Season One Monsters: These were created by Finster from clay models. Rita would throw her magic wand to Earth to make them grow. Some examples include:

* Bones: A skeleton monster whose head could fly. * Pudgy Pig: A monster who could eat anything, but hated spicy food! * Eye Guy: A monster covered in eyes. * Terror Toad: A toad monster who could swallow Rangers. * Snizzard: A snake-like monster with cobra hands. * Frankenstein's monster: A humanoid monster resembling the famous one. * Pumpkin Rapper: A rapping pumpkin monster. * Lizzinator: A super strong lizard monster made of metal.

• Season Two Monsters: Lord Zedd created these monsters from animals, plants, or objects. He would throw a grenade to Earth to make them grow. These monsters were usually stronger than Rita's. Some examples include:

* Pirantishead: A piranha monster who could control Zords. * Primator: A shape-shifting baboon monster. * Robogoat: A cyborg goat monster. * Guitardo: A guitar-playing cicada monster. * Nimrod the Scarlet Sentinel: A statue monster with two smaller helpers, AC and DC. * Four Head: A monster with four heads. * Turkey Jerk: A robotic turkey monster accidentally created by Bulk and Skull.

• Season Three Monsters: These monsters were often based on Japanese folklore creatures called Yōkai. Lord Zedd and Rita would cross their staffs to make them grow. Some examples include:

* Vampirus: A bat-like monster. * Artistmole: A mole monster who could steal colors. * Hate Master: A monster who could fill people with hate. * Miss Chief: A love-themed monster who spread love-crazed chaos. * Katastrophe the Cat Monster: A cat monster created from Kat's cat form. * Hydro Hog: The powerful water monster and main enemy of the Alien Rangers.
