Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie is a 1995 American science fiction superhero film. It stars the main actors from the TV show: Karan Ashley, Johnny Yong Bosch, Steve Cardenas, Jason David Frank, Amy Jo Johnson, and David Yost. They are joined by the villains from the original series and Paul Freeman as the new villain, Ivan Ooze.
This movie is based on the Japanese Super Sentai series. It was the first Power Rangers movie that did not use old footage from Super Sentai. It was released between the second and third seasons of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show. However, the movie tells a different story about how the Rangers got their new ninja powers and Zords compared to the TV show.
The movie was filmed in Australia, around Sydney and Queensland. It came out on June 30, 1995, and made $66.43 million around the world. Critics had mixed feelings about it. They liked the action scenes and the actors' performances. But some felt it was just a longer TV episode with better special effects. They thought the story and script could have been better. Still, many fans now see it as a cult classic, meaning it's very popular with a dedicated group of people.

Story of the Movie
The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers join Bulk and Skull in a charity skydive. They are helping the Angel Grove observatory. This is because Ryan's Comet is coming in two days. Bulk and Skull miss their landing spot. They accidentally land in a construction area. There, they find a giant egg.
Ivan Ooze Appears
Lord Zedd, Rita Repulsa, Goldar, and Mordant arrive at the construction site. They open the egg. This releases a powerful sorcerer named Ivan Ooze. Ivan Ooze is a shapeshifting being. He ruled Earth with a strong hand 6,000 years ago. He was defeated by Zordon and a group of young warriors.
The Rangers find Ivan Ooze and fight him. But Ivan sends ooze monsters to attack them. The Rangers defeat the monsters. However, this distraction lets Ivan escape. He then attacks the Rangers' Command Center. He makes Zordon weak and takes away the Rangers' powers. When the Rangers return, they find their Command Center destroyed. Zordon is outside his time portal, getting old and dying.
Journey to Phaedos
Zordon's helper, Alpha 5, sends the Rangers to a far-off planet called Phaedos. They must find the Great Power there to save Zordon. Meanwhile, on the Moon, Ivan Ooze takes over from Rita and Zedd. He traps them in a snow globe. He forces Goldar and Mordant to work for him. Then, he sends his Tengu warriors to Phaedos. He also starts building an army.
Ivan uses his ooze to hypnotize children's parents. He makes the parents dig up his Ecto-Morphicon Titans. These are two giant war machines from his old reign. Fred Kelman, a friend of the Rangers, finds his father missing. He discovers him working at the construction site. Fred then learns about Ivan's evil plans.
New Powers and Zords
On Phaedos, the Tengu warriors almost defeat the Rangers. But Dulcea, Phaedos' Master Warrior, saves them. She first tells them to leave for their own safety. But when she hears about Zordon, she agrees to help. She takes them to an old ruined temple. There, the Rangers must pass challenges to get the power of the Ninjetti.
Dulcea helps each Ranger awaken their animal spirit. Aisha becomes the bear. Rocky is the ape. Billy is the wolf. Kimberly is the crane. Adam is the frog. Tommy is the falcon. The Rangers go to the Monolith where the Great Power is. They use their smarts to defeat a giant dinosaur skeleton. Then, they defeat the temple's Stone Gargoyle guardians. Finally, they get the Great Power.
Saving Angel Grove
Back on Earth, Ivan's Ecto-Morphicons are fully dug up. He unleashes them on Angel Grove. He orders the hypnotized parents to die at the construction site. Fred recruits Bulk, Skull, and the other kids. They go to the construction site to save their parents.
The Rangers return with their new animal-themed Ninja Zords. After a tough fight, they destroy one of Ivan's Ecto-Morphicons, Scorpitron. Ivan takes control of Hornitor and becomes giant. He battles the Rangers himself. The Rangers combine their Zords to form the Ninja Megazord. Later, they form the Ninja Falcon Megazord. The kids push the parents back. Fred, with help from Bulk and Skull, sprays them with a lot of water.
The Rangers lead Ivan into space, right into the path of Ryan's Comet. The comet destroys him. Ivan's defeat breaks his hypnosis spell on the parents. They are reunited with their children. The Rangers return to the Command Center. They are sad to find Zordon has died. But they figure out how to use the Great Power. They restore the Command Center and bring Zordon back to life. He returns to his plasma tube. Everything goes back to normal in Angel Grove. A celebration is held at the Harbor. Fireworks light up the sky with a message saying "Thank You Power Rangers." This annoys Bulk and Skull, even though they helped save everyone.
In a scene after the movie ends, Goldar relaxes on Zedd's throne. Mordant serves him. But then Zedd and Rita appear. They were freed after Ivan was destroyed. They are not happy that Goldar and Mordant sided with Ivan earlier.
