About Millfore Hill
Millfore is one of the less-visited hills in the Galloway area. However, it offers amazing views from its top. You can see other nearby hills and Loch Dee from its summit. The hill stands a bit apart from its western neighbours. This is because of a valley called the White Laggan glen.
What's in a Name?
The name Millfore comes from the Scottish Gaelic words. It means cold round hill. This name gives us a clue about what the hill might be like. It suggests a rounded shape and perhaps a cool, breezy top.
Exploring Millfore
Even though it's not as busy as some other hills, Millfore is a great place for an adventure. Many people choose to climb it on its own. A popular starting point is from Clatteringshaws Loch to the east. The climb offers a chance to enjoy nature and see the stunning Scottish landscape.
