History of Moosleerau
Moosleerau was first written about in the year 1243. Back then, it was known as Moslerovwa. In 1306, the powerful Habsburg family had control over the town's important legal matters.
Later, in 1415, when the Aargau region was taken over, the control of these legal rights went to Bern. In 1803, after a big change called the Act of Mediation, the modern Canton of Aargau was created. Moosleerau then became an official municipality within this new canton.
Moosleerau is part of the church area, or parish, of Kirchleerau.
In the 1700s, Moosleerau was important for the textile industry in nearby cities like Aarau and Zofingen. People tried to connect the village to a railway line in the 1800s and 1900s, but it didn't happen. Since 1971, a bus line has connected Moosleerau to other towns. The number of people living in Moosleerau went down after 1850 because there weren't many factories or industries. However, the population started to grow again after World War II.
